There is a new sense of urgency when searching for chocolate becomes an Easter egg hunt. Every contender feels the pressure. Hurriedly reading then re-reading the clues. Jumping into flowerbeds for that sweet foil covered goodness. Completely ignoring the cute Easter decor hanging up in trees, that was painstakingly hung by the hunt organisers. Forget the pretty frills and fuss; this hunt is for the chocolate and nothing else.

A bleary eyed Saturday morning greets you. Friday after work drinks turned into a bit of an all-nighter. You want breakfast - in fact you need breakfast. Smoked salty bacon, smooth rich mushrooms fried in butter, a hot piece of toasted sourdough and the crowning glory: an egg. You’ll take your egg any which way. Scrambled, sunny side down, boiled, poached. Today is fried egg day with a tempting runny yolk. Nothing tops off breakfast better.

Ask someone under the age of ten what their favourite food is and they’ll say: chocolate. Kids love the sweet stuff – the smooth cocoa deliciousness cannot be competed with. Bake with children and chocolate cake mix will be mysteriously halved; sugar-laden toppings will suddenly disappear. Make their springtime even sweeter and dress them up in the cutest Easter themed clothing – chocolate and bunnies galore!

Fine, you’ll admit it. You’re a perfectionist. There has never been a time that your curtains didn’t hang impeccably or when your cushions weren’t sufficiently plumped. You’re never too trendy. Michelle Obama and Pippa Middleton are your fashion icons. Colours must be coordinated and complemented. Fresh, bright and outrageously well turned out is your style mantra.

What’s your favourite holiday? Easter, so you can eat everything chocolate - anything chocolate. Chocolate spread on toast for dinner – obviously. Your friends worry about you during this time of year. Three mini-chocolate bunnies by lunchtime just isn’t right. At least that’s what they tell you. You like the good stuff though, 70% cocoa dark chocolate is your favourite. You break off a square whenever you fancy - you read somewhere it’s high in vitamin and minerals.

Top down. Chrome spinning. The open road belongs to you and your cherry red Renault. It’s Easter Sunday - the roads are practically dead. Everyone is huddled up with family enjoying the archetypal lamb roast dinner, but you’ve opted for an afternoon road trip. Wind rushes through your hair whilst you delight in the surprising brightness of the blue sky. Take in the beautiful springtime scenery. Happy Easter.

Colourful and long summer days mean: perfectly trimmed lawns, flowers in bloom and sports day. Your little angels will be unrecognisable, as they get ultra-competitive during the three-legged race. Hula hooping will be transformed into an Olympic sport. After so many sporting achievements the only way to round off such a fun-filled day, is a visit to the Ice-cream van.

A really tasty bird

Fried, stewed, baked or poached - chicken is the meat of the people. Unlike pork and lamb, it isn’t an acquired taste. Chicken is simple, easily transformed with a handful of fresh thyme, a bulb of garlic and lashings of rich butter. Bring a roast chicken to the Sunday dinner table and the family will simply follow the aroma. No call to dinner required. Juicy. Tasty. Democratic. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
