About Alesha Dixon

Alesha Dixon is a well-known English singer, rapper, and dancer. She began her career as part of the trio Mis-Teeq, but pursued a solo career after the group broke up. Her first solo album was Fired Up, released in 2006. The first two singles did not fare well and she was released from her contract with the record label. In 2007, Dixon got a second chance with the TV show Strictly Come Dancing, which she won. Afterwards, she was signed to Asylum Records. Her second album, The Alesha Show, did much better than her first, obtaining platinum status in the UK. Ironically, Alesha Dixon became a judge on the show where she had been a former competitor, Strictly Come Dancing. She judged the seventh, eighth, and ninth seasons of the show before leaving to judge Britain's Got Talent. Dixon was the rapper of the group Mis-Teeq, but moved away from that style of music on her first two albums. Her third album, The Entertainer, brings her back to the role of MC again. Not only is she a singer, but also a songwriter and writes or co-writes most of her own songs. Dixon credits Madonna as a big influence on her style of music, along with Kylie Minogue. Her songwriting influence is Lauryn Hill. In addition to her musical performances, she has also presented and been a guest at various shows in the UK, including the BBC One's show This Week and the telethon Children in Need in 2008, 2009, and 2011. In 2010, she presented on the Mister World 2011, adding to her record of public appearances.
