The baby rattle is one of the oldest of baby toys, yet it is as popular with babies today as it has been for generations of babies in the past. Baby rattles come in all shapes and sizes, from simple wooden rattles filled with beads to cuddly toy rattles and rattling plastic shapes. Baby rattles are often incorporated into other toys, such as teething rings, mobiles and strings of pram toys.
Interesting variations on the traditional baby rattle are wrist and foot rattles. These either strap to the wrist using Velcro, or are worn on the foot as a sock. This allows the smallest of babies to enjoy the fun of a rattle independently, even before they have mastered how to grip and hold things for themselves.
