About Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice is a US film that was released in 1988, and directed by Tim Burton. Distributed by Warner Bros and produced by The Geffen Film Company, it is a film that quickly gained cult status after its release. Beetlejuice tells the story of a young couple - the Maitlands - who, early in the film, die as a result of a car accident. They flee back to their home - but before long, it is sold to a new and obnoxious family, who turn the Maitlands' previous family home into a gaudy monstrosity. They consult their afterlife care worker, who tells them that they must stay in the house for 125 years - and if they want the new family gone, they must scare them away. Cue the hiring of Beetlejuice - a ghost who works as a 'bio-exorcist' on a freelance basis - who causes havoc for both the new family and the whole neighbourhood, and whose crudeness and overall demeanour upsets the Maitlands. The rest of the film follows Beetlejuice's mischief and mayhem. Starring well known actors such as Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Winona Ryder, Beetlejuice is something of a cult classic. As a result, the film has spawned plenty of merchandise. In addition to copies of the film itself, fans and collectors can find a variety of merchandise. Beetlejuice is a popular fancy dress option - both at Halloween and at other times of the year - with full outfits, wigs, masks and more available to buy.
