About Call of Duty Dog Tags

In terms of video games, the Call of Duty series has a reputation that few others can match. The recent edition ‘Ghosts’, continues to build on previous achievements, adding to the success its creators have already enjoyed.

The Call of Duty series began on PC back in 2004, with the first three games focused solely on recreating the harrowing experience of soldiers during World War II. By the time the third game in the series was released in 2006, Call of Duty had already begun to generate enthusiasm from the console market.

The fourth instalment of the series was perhaps the first to really explode in terms of popularity. Modern Warfare was the first of the Call of Duty game to focus on the modern day rather than WWII and was released on all of the major gaming platforms in 2007. Following on from the popularity of Modern Warfare, a sequel - suitably dubbed Modern Warfare 2 - was released on November 10th 2009, continuing the storyline from its predecessor.

When the modern warfare series reached its conclusion, the Call of Duty team began to focus on what has become known as the Black Ops story arc. Though it began back in 2008 with World at War, the Black Ops storyline really came to prominence with Black Ops (released in 2010) and then Black Ops II (released in 2012).

Because of the popularity of the Call of Duty series, a number of different merchandise items have also been released. Call of Duty dog tags have become popular amongst those collectors who like to dress in a military style and also those keen to demonstrate their enthusiasm and loyalty for the games. They can be fully customised in order to represent the owner, whether with their own name or their gaming handle.
