About Carol Vorderman

Co-host for over 25 years on the popular game show Countdown, Carol Vorderman is that rare celebrity who is so familiar to her fans that she almost seems like one of the family. Starting out as a junior civil engineer decades ago, Vorderman experienced the lucky chance of auditioning for Countdown after her mother saw and advert announcing a search for a female presenter with maths skills. Since being on the show, Vorderman has diversified her brand, segueing into book publication and various word and maths-related games and accessories. Vorderman's name can be found on a large variety of study texts developed to help parents prepare their children for maths and science study in school. Vorderman also promotes a variety of fun educational tools for adults, including Sudoku manuals. Not one to be outdone in any way in terms of ambition, Vorderman even has her own line of dieting books to help women follow fasts and diet plans and address troublesome issues such as cellulite. Since leaving Countdown in 2008, Vorderman has been busying herself as a presenter in a freelance capacity. She has appeared on a series of programmemes as a guest, including Piers Morgan's Life Stories, The Michael Ball Show, and as a presenter on Food, Glorious Food.
