A carrycot is a device which is usually designed to be attached to a pram or travel system. It allows young infants to lie flat when travelling, which is the preferred position for newborn and young children unable to support their own head and neck. Carrycots also double up as handy places for babies to sleep during nap time or before they are big enough to be comfortable in a cot.
Carrycots have been produced by a range of different baby care and travel brands. They usually comprise of a harder outer shell and a soft lining, sometimes including a mattress, to ensure the infant is comfortable and secure within. They are often sold with other additional accessories for a range of travel systems.
