About Cooker Hood 70cm
Cooker hoods (sometimes known as chimney hoods, thanks to their appearance) assist you in cooking by circulating fresh air and removing smoke from your kitchen. They come in a variety of sizes to match your cooker top, with the 70Cm offering a reasonable reach without taking up too much of your kitchen. 70Cm refers to the length of the hood, not the depth or height: most hoods are telescopic and can reach to match the height of your kitchen.
Types of hood
There are two main varieties of cooker hood, defined by the method that they use to freshen the air in your kitchen. Extractor hoods work by removing smoke via ducts to the outside of your home, whereas recirculation hoods clean the air using filters. Extractor hoods tend to be the more effective option, but aren?t always suitable and may take longer to install - so make a decision on what you need before buying.
Recirculation hoods are available with two types of filter, grease and charcoal. Charcoal filters are less common and require changing every year or so, grease filters will come with any hood you choose and need occasional cleaning by hand or in your dishwasher.
All 70Cm cooker hoods will require some DIY knowledge to be installed, or alternatively will need to be installed by a professional. If an extraction option is chosen, the duct will also have to be installed and usually bought separately.
There is a minimum gap needed between a cooker top and cooker hood for 70Cm sizes, usually between 50-75Cm dependent on the type of cooker.
