The leaves used to make all varieties of tea come from the same plant. To make green tea, they are steamed fresh and do not undergo fermentation. Because of the preparation method, it is richer in antioxidants and has been used for centuries in China to treat various ailments.


Studies indicate that green tea may be beneficial in reducing cholesterol and preventing cardiovascular disease. Traditionally, it is believed to encourage weight loss, prevent cancer, and combat Alzheimer's disease.
