HTC phones have earned substantial market share as one of the major manufacturers of modern smartphones, and unlike some of their competitors, the company produces some handsets that run on the Android operating system, and some that use Microsoft's Windows Phone OS, depending on when the handset was released.

This willingness to adapt may be partly responsible for why HTC phones remain firm favourites with many of their long-term users, while licensing deals with other major manufacturers have also allowed the company to stay on the right side of patent disputes at certain times in the past. The result is a line of smartphone handsets that keeps earning praise from the critics, not to mention a reasonable number of technology awards.
