In the early days of aeronautics, pilots navigated with pocket watches and a wristwatch made especially for an aviator was a rare thing indeed! But IWC changed all that when they created the very first Pilotâs watch in 1936. It came with luminous numerals and hands, an antimagnetic escapement, a bezel with arrowhead for time tracking and super-tough glass. The First IWC Big Pilot watch was produced in 1940. It had larger seconds to run in accordance with specifications from the military and a movement manufactured by IWC. At a weight of 183g and a 55mm diameter case, the IWC Big Pilot was the largest watch produced by the company.
The modern IWC Big Pilot watch takes inspiration from cockpit design and will make a chic and sleek addition to any manâs accessory collection, whether he can take charge of a plane or not! IWC have cemented themselves as a leading name in Pilotâs watches thanks to their long experience of creating high-quality, practical and attractive aviation timepieces. Today IWC are celebrating their rich history with the Chronograph edition, which seamlessly blends the classic early IWC look with the tehnology and innovation for which they have become famous today.
