About Jaguar XF

The Jaguar XF was launched in 2008 as the replacement for the S-Type. It was named What Car? magazine's Executive Car of the Year for four successive years between 2008 and 2011. The XF was based on the C-XF concept car that Jaguar showcased at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. Visually, the car's exterior was a significant departure from the traditionalist approach that Jaguar had been taking over the preceding decade. The interior also presents a more modern interpretation of what a Jaguar should look like. While wooden trim remains available, unlike previous Jaguars the XF can be specified with aluminium, black piano lacquer and carbon fibre detailing. Other modern touches include blue back lighting to dials and controls. Mechanically, the Jaguar XF is based on the same Ford-derived platform as the S-Type. It uses Jaguar's V8 petrol engines, adapted versions of a Ford petrol V6 and the highly regarded Ford/Peugeot V6 diesel. The suspension is derived from the XK sports car. In 2011 the XF was facelifted with the main exterior difference being the new smoothed out headlamp clusters. These bring the appearance of the XF closer to the original C-XF concept. A new 2.2 litre four cylinder diesel was also added to the engine range at this point. Performance variants of the XF include the supercharged XFR introduced in 2009 and the XFR-S that debuted in 2013. The latter is the fastest ever production Jaguar saloon. A new Jaguar XF Sportbrake estate car was added to the line up in 2012.
