About Long Reach Hedge Trimmers

If your home is surrounded by boundary hedges so tall, it is difficult or even impossible to keep them trimmed and in shape with a conventional hedge trimmer, a long reach hedge trimmer may be the solution to your problems. Far easier, and not to mention safer, than balancing on a ladder, they have either a fixed or extendible shaft which allows you to trim the hedge side above head height. Some of them allow you to set the angle of the blade ranging from 0 to 125 degrees so that you can actually cut back the top of the hedge with your feet remaining firmly on the ground at all times. As with many products, long reach hedge trimmers are available in many varieties; battery powered, electric or petrol operated, your choice may be determined by the location of the hedge in question in relation to the nearest power source, although it is worth noting that the electric and petrol are heavier in handle and therefore require more control to guide. Long reach hedge trimmers are an essential item required if you maintain tall hedges yourself, as they enable you to cut back, trim and shape without the health and safety issues balancing on a ladder can bring. With many of them having angle adjusting blades with up to 13 lockable points, they can be adjusted to accommodate most hedge shapes and sizes. They can also be adapted to cut back ground plants and shrubbery, if the appropriate protector is placed on the blade to prevent damaging it on the ground.
