Motorola mobile phones have been providing a different look and feel from many other companies' products for several generations of mobile telephone technology, often with a brushed metallic finish, and with some handsets coming in bronze or copper tones, as opposed to the black or silver that might be more common. These sleek exteriors house practical, functional phones that are generally said to have good call quality, and Motorola's Razr brand was among the leading options during the era of feature phones.

Razr survived into the smartphone age as the designation for a range of Motorola mobile phones running the Android operating system, and has always been synonymous with a very thin design. Motorola mobile phones often also feature a clamshell construction, although this again relates more to their feature phones.
