About Past Times Silver
Past Times was a popular chain of shops which sold jewellery, board games, gifts and home furnishings inspired by different periods of history.
Founded in 1984, Past Times ceased trading on the UK high street in January 2012 when its remaining 51 UK stores shut their doors. The company?s online sales stopped the following year after it was bought by high street favourite WHSmith. Past Times was founded by John Beale, who was also responsible for the hugely successful Early Learning Centre which is still going strong today.
A firm favourite among UK shoppers, especially at Christmas time, Past Times sold a wide selection of silver gifts and jewellery. Ranging in style, all of its pieces were inspired by particular historical styles or famous designers such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Celtic silver jewellery, especially drop earrings and pendants were particularly popular with Past Times shoppers.
Many Past Time silver pieces also included precious stones and gems, with medieval style rings and pendants set with these colourful stones. Art Deco jewellery was another popular Past Times style and this early 20th century movement inspired a wide selection of necklaces, bangles and earrings.
Past Times? range of silver items was not just limited to jewellery however. With many nostalgic keepsakes for special occasions, their range also included sterling silver photo frames and novelty items such as silver plated shoe horns and quaint silver bookmarks. Silver watches, key rings and other assorted trinkets were also a popular part of the Past Times range.
