About Pre Rinse Sprays
A pre rinse spray is a catering sink tap specifically designed to allow kitchen workers to powerfully and efficiently pre-wash dirty dishes before putting them into an automatic dishwasher. It's usually composed of an upright riser (plumbed into a high pressure water supply), a flexible metal hose which is extendable by means of a spring, and a gun at the spray end, usually with a trigger for extra control.
They can be mounted on a stainless steel work surface, or fixed direct to the wall. They come in twin feed (for extra water pressure) or single feed models. 'Eco' or 'water saving' designs provide a similar force for a lower water pressure. Some come with built-in bowl-filling tap, or it may be possible to to add a bowl-filling tap to a pre rinse system, creating an ideal set-up for a heavy pot washing sink.
Extra features which can be useful in some situations include a swivel valve, allowing the user to turn the unit out of the way when not in use, automatic shut off, and a smaller 'mini' size to fit into limited space below a shelf or window.
Because they are designed to be worked hard, industrial standard pre rinse sprays are composed of heavy duty parts which can be easily replaced, so long as you choose the right part or fitting for your model. Parts are often interchangeable across manufacturers. Popular manufacturers of pre rinse sprays are AquaJet, Delabie, GastroTechnix and Sage. Look for WRAS approved products.
