About Rugs

A rug can really tie the room together, whether you are an interior decorator or the Big Lebowski. For classification purposes, there are interior rugs and exterior rugs that can weather changing environments and treatment. Persian rugs are perhaps the most expensive option if the threading is dyed by old world vegetable dying proccesses. Also, if the rug is handloomed, the price can increase exponentially. Those manufactured by machine or automated systems may be a bit less expensive, but can be of equal quality. Made to walk on, put furniture on and use gently, indoor rugs can change the decor of the room dramatically. You can add an area rug on top of an existing wall-to-wall carpetted floor, or on top of stone, wood, or tile flooring. You can purcahse throw pillows and even curtains to match the colours and pattern of the rug in many cases. Outdoor rugs may have a waxed feeling or be crafted from synthetic, rather than natural fibres. While natural materials can collect mold, synthetics like polyester do not absorb moisture long enough for any growth to occur. Outdoor rugs can be placed under furniture, or on top of a pathway. Some rugs can be manually washed while others should be laundered professionally. Should any abrasive liquids like coffee or red wine fall on the rug you should spot-treat the stain immediately to lift the immediate threat. However, be sure to treat the fabric and dyes appropriately so you do not lift the actual colours off the rug in the process.
