About Russell Brand

Russell Brand, who was in the spotlight for his marriage and subsequent divorce from American songstress Katy Perry, is a comedian who has ventured into acting, writing, and television programmeme hosting. Most of the U.K. was introduced to Russell when he was the host of "Big Brother's Big Mouth" in 2004. He started acting in films in 2007 with a role in "St. Trinian's", and hopped overseas to star in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" in 2008, which cemented his status as a global star. Russell isn't afraid to take chances and cause controversy to get attention, as evidenced by a stunt he pulled during his stint on MTV, when he came to work in costume as Osama bin Laden directly after the September 11 terrorist attacks. He's also been known to abuse drugs and alcohol, and be quite public about it. Seemingly, there's nothing this young comedian is hiding, and if you didn't catch it all on the news, you can read about it in his books, which are autobiographies titled "My Booky Wook" and "My Booky Wook 2", respectively. He started his career as a stand-up comic in the year 2000, and began touring with his act a few years later. He has since appeared in noteworthy film roles in "Rock of Ages", "Hop", and "Arthur". The eclectic funny man also owns his own production company called Branded Films, thus implying that Russell will be seen a lot more on the silver screen in upcoming films. Russell inspires strong feelings in most people, and you either love his brashness or you think it's offensive. Either way, he's become an international icon.
