About Samsung Chromebook Series 3
The Samsung Series 3 Chromebook is based around Google?s ?Chrome? operating system and uses the Exynos 5250 dual-core ARM 1.7GHz processor. As with all Chromebook computers, to gain maximum benefit from all the incorporated features of this computer, it is best to use it when connected to the Internet.
The Chrome operating system is effectively a web browser in which all applications run. By utilising this operating system, expensive license fees can be avoided and the Chromebook therefore offers extremely good value for money.
The Samsung Series 3 Chromebook comes installed with only 2 GB of RAM but has a full complement of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 slots, HDMI connectivity and an 11.6 inch screen which, although adequate, could be better.
The machine has a sleek design. However, it is possible to flex the case which may suggest that the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook is not the most robust of laptops.
Potential purchasers should be aware that the keyboard layout has been changed to accommodate the Chrome OS and the normal function keys have been replaced with dedicated Chrome OS functions. Nevertheless, the computer is more than adequate for word processing and general usage.
Games fans should note that this is not a gaming machine.
The Exynos processor uses much less power than a conventional x386 CPU and battery life is therefore quite good. The hard drive is however only 16GB, the Chromebook being primarily designed to use ?Cloud? data storage.
