About Sennheiser

Sennheiser produces audio equipment for the consumer and for industry professionals and the German manufacturer has established a reputation for high quality microphones, headphones and telephony equipment that comes at a price. Fritz Sennheiser originally called the company Labor W when he founded it a few weeks after the war ended in 1945. The company's first product was a volt meter. It switched its focus to microphones the following year and in 1968 produced the world's first open headphones. Sennheiser sold more than 10 million units and the HD 414s are still the best-selling headphones ever. Sennheiser was one of the first to produce wireless microphone systems that helped to revolutionise television broadcasting in 1982 and in 1987 it received an Academy Award thanks to its innovative shotgun microphone. It has since been awarded an Emmy. The German manufacturer has enjoyed even greater success in recent years thanks to the increasing popularity of home video and the improvements in home audio. It produces a wide range of headphones, from the budget end of the spectrum aimed at home users through to those for television professionals for whom audio quality is crucial. As well as headphones, Sennheiser also has a range of wired and wireless microphones, as well as full broadcast kits for on-site presentations. Sennheiser has become a mark of quality in the industry and even second-hand examples of its highest quality microphones can attract serious interest.
