One of New Jerseyâs best kept secrets is itâs connection to the world of New Wave Ska. The music movement first began to emerge in the area in the mid-90s and by the early part of the new millennium New Jersey was the capital of Ska Punk and the chief group among them was Streetlight Manifesto. Hailing from New Jerseyâs New Brunswick, the bandâs first album âEverything Goes Numbâ was a huge critical success and they began a wave of sell out tours across the US.
Their first release in 2003 proved to be a huge hit but over the next few years Streetlight Manifesto faced line-up changes which meant their next album wasnât released until 2006. âKeasbey Nights became a second hit for Streetlight Manifesto, swiftly followed by âSomewhere in the Betweenâ in 2007, with Ska punk classic â99 Songs of Revolutionâ being released in 2010. The most recent album from the band was âThe Hands That Thieveâ in 2013. Streetlight Manifesto still spend most of their time touring in the US and have also appeared in Europe. Youâll find a number of Streetlight Manifesto recordings available to buy on CD, including their five albums and live EP from 2013.
