About Stressless Chair
Stressless is a trademark owned by the Ekornes furniture company. Founded in Norway in 1934, Ekornes is known for its production of luxury armchairs and sofas. The chairs come in several designs, and can be split into two main categories; recliners and office chairs.
Most popularly sold along side matching footstools, the Stressless Recliners are the more common of the two categories. The recliners come in various designs, from the most common - Voyager, a laid back chair suited to relaxing - to more upright models, such as the Spirit, Eagle, and Sunrise models. The chairs are coated in a number of different materials, from vibrant colours of real leather, to more durable and child-friendly textile options. The upholstery is durable, and attached straight onto the frame of the chair, making it unsuitable for washing or reupholstering. The wooden bases of the chairs are manufactured from laminated European beech, a strong wood which stands up to all the usage you might expect of a recliner.
Less popular than the recliners, but with the same various options available, Stressless Office furniture meets all the same lumbar support requirements as their counterparts. Suited to a desk, the office chairs do not come with a footstool. Each design is manufactured with the same name as its stylistic reclining counterpart, providing a guide for anyone wishing to match similar style items in the same room or across the house. Manufactured with the same materials and upholstery options as the recliners, and are equipped with the same 360 degree mechanism in the base.
