About Tortoise Table
Every tortoise deserves a good home that?s big enough for exploring, burrowing and climbing, with a sheltered bedroom area to hide away and sleep in.
Most breeds of domestic Mediterranean tortoises don?t grow to their full size until they reach adulthood at around five years of age. For these first five years, a small tortoise table of around 30 x 18 x 6 inches should suffice. Make sure your tortoise table is deep enough to accommodate your tortoise?s bedding, water bowl, food bowl, heat lamp, and any other accessories such as cuttlefish bones. If there is separate sheltered compartment where the tortoise can sleep, it should be wide enough for your tortoise to enter and exit as its shell grows bigger.
Many tortoise starter tables will come with a heat lamp, UV bulb and a few other accessories, such as bedding or food bowls.
As your tortoise grows, you will need a larger tortoise table, measuring around 4ft x 2ft x 8 inches.
All tortoises need as much access to natural light as possible, so in addition to an indoor tortoise box, consider investing in an outdoor tortoise box, fitted with a wire mesh over the top to protect your pet from predators.
As tortoises have become more and more popular as pets, fancier and more innovative tortoise tables have hit the market. Octagonal shaped tables, Perspex fronted tables and even tortoise-shaped tables are all now available.
Check postage costs before you order, as tortoise tables are large and heavy and may cost a considerable amount to post.
