Versace, a top Italian fashion label, first collaborated with Swedish fashion outlet H&M in November 2011, with a specially designed collection called Versace for Hennes. The range consists of bright, bold statement items of clothing for both men and women, featuring clean and precise prints and cuts. The women?s range contains many iconic dresses from the Versace archives, as well as famous Versace prints and a strong Grecian theme. The men?s range features sharp tailoring, extravagant pattern and bold colours, even including pink. When the range was launched on 18th November 2011, H&M stores were besieged by hordes of shoppers and some stores sold out of their entire collection in less than 30 minutes. The iconic Versace for Hennes range was followed by the launch of a Versace cruise collection in January 2012, exclusively for H&M online. This collection is a holiday capsule wardrobe, featuring soft feminine dresses, tops, trousers, negligées and pyjamas, cashmere cardigans, plus jewellery, bags and shoes. The men?s collection is very classic and features blazers, jeans, shirts and shorts. Versace, an Italian fashion label, has always been associated with glamour, since it was founded in 1978 by Gianni Versace, who revolutionised fashion, mixing art, celebrity, theatre and ballet, introducing provocative designs and classical themes. The company is now headed by Donatella Versace, who took over the role of chief designer in 1997 when Gianni died. Hennes opened its first store in 1947 in Sweden and the company changed its name to Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) in 1968. The company grew rapidly and now has around 3,100 stores in 53 markets.
