About Vintage Rocking Horse

A popular feature item in many nurseries and playrooms, the vintage rocking horse has been both a plaything and a companion for children for centuries. Vintage rocking horses are often beautifully crafted from wood and sport a fine mane and tail of hair. Complete with bridle, saddle and stirrups, your little rider will be in their element. Some vintage rocking horses are very authentic in their finish, with leather accessories being used. Some have a covering of a fleecy material, to imitate a more realistic feel, and making them seem more cuddly and appealing to younger children. Most of the rocking horses permit the rider to sit astride them, although it is possible to find a vintage rocking horse with a separate bench type seat to sit behind the horse, almost like a carriage. Whilst retaining the vintage look and feel, some more modern horses incorporate sound as well as movement. A squeeze of an ear triggers galloping and neighing sounds, to imitate an actual horse ride, with the mouth moving in time with the neighs. Vintage rocking horses are not just for the children, some of the older wooden or even metal ones would make an excellent prop for a shop window or feature area, or to be used as a prop in theatre performances or photo shoots.
