About Vybz Kartel
Vybz Kartel was born Adidja Palmer on January 7, 1976. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, his music encompasses genres such as dancehall, reggae, and reggae fusion. He is a singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, deejay, and producer and has several singles to his credit, including "Romping Shop", "Clarks", and "Pon De Floor". His very first recording came in 1993 with the release of "Love Fat Woman". He later went on to become one of three members in the group Vybez Kartel. After the group separated, Adidja decided to keep the group's name, but altered it slightly. At this point in his career, Adidja began writing songs for the group Bounty Killer, including the song "Gal Clown" as well as close to thirty other songs. Vybz became widely popular in 2003 in his home country Jamaica after he had numerous hits there. He went on to become business partners with Ainsley "Notnice" Morris, and they created their own record label Adidjahiem/Notnice Records. "Pon Di Gaza 2.0" was released in 2010 under that record label, which was created in collaboration with Tads Records. The "Kingston Story" album was released in 2011 with Dre Skull as the producer. Not only has Vybz shown that he can sing and write, but he also proved to be a successful businessman when he launched his own line of liquor called Vybz Rum and his own line of condoms, called Daggering Condoms. This artist has also hosted his own reality show "Teacha's Pet", with a group of 20 women competing for his affection.
