ASROCK P4165G MOTHERBOARD
Created: 11/04/10
I recently purchased a Medion P4 computer on Ebay for £85 and when it arrived i set it all up and pressed the start button and it fired up ok but when i started running simple programs like Word or Publisher i started getting problems, so reading a lot of reviews on the Medion MD8080 Motherboard (which were not very good) i decided to change the Motherboard, so i swotted up on Socket 478 mobos and decided the one for me was the ASROCK P4165G which had the same intel chipset as the Medion MT8080 mobo.it had intergrated Graphics,Sound and Lan.The first place i looked was Ebay and lo and behold there was a ASROCK P4165G for sale "buy it now" for £15 so i thought i will have some of that, it arrived two days later. so i stripped everything out of the Medion P4 computer, bought a new case for £23 installed the ASROCK P4165G mobo and built the rest back up, i also added a Radion graphics card, Sound card,Firewire ports, and 2 front usb ports crossed my fingers and fired it up and magically Windows xp recognised everything although i did have to install the drivers for the Radion graphics card and Sound card ( which i had downloaded from "DRIVERSGUIDE.COM" before hand, now i have a great P4 computer without any problems and would recomend this motherboard to anybody who is having problems with their P4 motherboard but make sure the chipset on the old board is the same as the one on the ASROCK P4165G Mobo (ie) INTEL .

There are lots of great advantages with this motherboard such as the size, its a Micro ATX motherboard meaning that you can have a smaller case such as a media centre case. It has 2 DDR 400 (backwards compatible with DDR 333,266 and 200) slots which can be used in Dual channel Mode if both Ram modules are the same.
The northbridge chipset on this board is an Intel 865g which supports a front side bus up to 800 mhz , but you can also use 400 and 533 mhz bus CPU's with this board.

I Bought one Of These, a few years Ago. so From Experience. I Can say The board Has Never Let Me Down. This Is A real Worker Of A Board. The Best Feature Is That it Has On-Board Graphics. so setting It up Is Very straight Forward. Also It Does Have The Exceptional Ability To Connect, dual Layer DVD drives To. Which Is Great For Carrying Out Certain Tasks. Great-Price. Excellent reliable Motherboard. Highly Recommended.

ASRock P4I65G Motherboard

For the price i think this is a reasonable board and i like it. However it is a bit quirky starting up some times, particularly for the first time from new, other than that it seems reliable. The capacitor count is quite low, with only four on the power supply, but the closeness of the bridge heatsink to the cpu makes removal and attachment of some heatsinks quite awkward.

ASRock - does what it says on the tin

This was a replacement for a defunct Abit BD7 motherboard. This smaller mini-ITX motherboard fits my case perfectly and simply worked out of the box, once the processor (Pentium P4 2,4GHz) ram and disks were swapped. Nice to have both SATA and PATA drives and loads of USB to play with. Excellent BIOS - was fully automatic - no tweaks needed to get it all to run. Altogether I'm very pleased with it.
