First of all I have to say this is an amazing piece of kit that will quite happily replace all your other computer equipment with ease. I'm typing this on my Transformer and I havent touched my netbook or PC ever since I recieved it.

Pros: Excellent build quality, about 8hrs battery life with continuous use, a few more hours with the keyboard dock charging the tablet. With two USB port, sd card and hdmi. theres little need for any further connectivity. Keyboard dock also protects the screen when not in use. In comparison to other

Cons: Honeycomb is not so smooth, especialy in the browser and when apps are running. Market is woefully sparse for honeycomb apps less than a hundred or so so, (compared to 20k ipad apps) and phone apps look distorted on the big screen which is a pity as it really is a great screen. Stability issues with apps is prevelant with frequent crashes with more than a few market downloaded apps and browser can really crawl at times.

Overall for the price a worthwhile purchase but it still isnt comparable to the iPad for speed and reliability though the flexibility with connectivity, expansion and the fact that it can easily replace your laptop as a fulltime workhorse (Polaris Office is built in and is superb), no need to sync with any other device and the flexibilty to drag and drop files from and to the device easily means it is much closer to a tablet you can use every day, unlike the popular Apple device which requires pc connectivity for syncing and file transfers. If the Google Market was able to compete with the Apple market, there would be no question in my mind which would be my device of choice.

As it stands, I have to succumb to the obvious that if you want the mobile app experience for tablets, the iPad is the better device. Although if you 're looking for a flexible device that can replace your current devices, this would be a very good choice.

Review for: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 16GB, Wi-Fi, 10.1in - Bronze
This is a totally new experience with android tablets. Well, I loved both the Asus tablet and the android. No fan, no heat, no noise, no big sizes... and no Windows! I still however have to use my laptop if I want to, for example, prepare a professional word document. But if you're after something which you can hold anywhere with long lasting battery - it last about 5 hours of average use - and if you want to get online with bluetooth capability and a built-in camera, then this tablet is an answer. The idea of having a separate keyboard docking station is great and helps if one is really attached to conventional computing. However, I actually very slightly use the keyboard. the android itself is of course completely different from windows, but very simple and you can used to it quickly. the performance of the tablet is really smooth, I have found no freezes or crashes so far. The idea of letting you extending the memory with extra SD card slots is great, and the built-in mic works just fine. Speakers are fine as well, and the sounds comes out very clear. The tablet is designed very cleverly, it's robust and yet it is beautiful!

Review for: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 16GB, Wi-Fi, 10.1in - Bronze
After having used a similar netbook from Asus, the 1201nl, the first thing i can say about the build quality is that this feels extremely robust, and the expresso colour sets off nicely against the black, and has a really nice texture and finish. It certainly feels very slick and the usb connectors and memory card slots, etc. are very neatly set into the housing. The screen is really gorgeous which also sets it apart from other Asus netbooks i've come across. If you spend a lot of the time surfing the web, then this will really enrich the whole experience, and somehow make you feel less geeky than sitting at a desk in front of a PC.

One thing to remember is that this is still in the netbook class in terms of performance despite having a dual-core CPU.
What i mean is that if you already use a more powerful laptop for more serious work like editing photos, documents, and business stuff and the likes, this is by no means a replacement but definitely would be something that might work well alongside it.

Some people have complained about the onscreen keyboard, but i found it very intuitive and it popped up and disappeared without interrupting what i was doing, and again offers a new
less geeky way to browse the web.

As for the attached keyboard, i have some mixed feelings about this. On the plus side, again, the build quality is excellent, and it offers you expandability with 2 usb slots, an SD card slot on top of the micro sd card slot and hdmi on the tablet part. It also will boost your battery life and pass its charge onto the tablet even when not plugged in which is a nice touch. The only minus side is that since i got used to the touchscreen now, i wonder how much time in the future i will actually spend with the keyboard attached. Still if you have doubts and wonder if you should buy just the tablet and then decide later if you want to get the extra keyboard, i would still advise getting it anyway, mainly because the benefits of extending battery life as well as the USB connectors are justification enough to go ahead and get the whole thing.

Review for: ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101 16GB, Wi-Fi, 10.1in - Bronze
The family clubbed together and bought this for a first-time computer user, for his 80th birthday!

A number of things prompted this purchase rather than the obvious iPad:

1) There is an SD card slot- the card can be taken out of their digital camera and placed directly into the slot in the keyboard expansion, and pictures loaded on.
With an iPad, you'd need a PC and iTunes to achieve this.
2) There's a decent keyboard. OK, you can add a wireless keyboard to the iPad, but the docking isn't as neat.
3) 10+ hours battery life.
4) USB ports- he can use a mouse as an alternative to the touch-screen.

Setting up the Transformer is simplicity itself. One or two things are not *quite* as slick as the iPad, but the relative freedom from Apple's "walled garden" approach is attractive. You can download apps from various places, not just the one store. Admittedly, there are not yet quite so many apps, but there is a lot of duplication on the Apple app store, and much of the content on there is pretty poor. In terms of useful apps at sensible prices, it's a much closer contest, with many of the best apps available on both.

The slightly wider screen is a natural fit for video.

The touch-screen is every bit as responsive as the iPad.

It runs flash; no more "this content is not available on your device" messages.

We have an iPad at home- I'd not buy it again, I'd go for one of these (or the newer quad-core one, even).

Without the keyboard dock, you have no USB port. That is my biggest gripe after having the tablet for a month even though I haven't yet needed USB. I found the rear camera lacking but have only used it in poor light, in practice this isn't a problem as I mainly use taking quick copies of paperwork.

The battery will cover a day of heavy use and although the components aren't latest generation they are all perfectly capable. On Android 4 things do take time to load but a couple of seconds is not an issue.

Bought second hand, this has all the features of the various Chinese tablets at a marginally higher price, but has none of the quality or support issues.
