Nexus 7 16GB, Wi-Fi, 7in - Black

I was looking for an ebook reader as I have loads of PDFs and I don't like to read on computer screen. After looking around I decided to add some money and buy this tablet.

It's excellent and you really can't find a better deal for the price. Great performance with quad-core Tegra CPU so everything works smooth, including games and HD movies playback. The latest android platform from Google with guaranteed updates as soon as new version of the OS is released. Good battery life: around a whole day of heavy (as in non-stop) usage and 4-5 days under normal circumstances. And on top of that thousands of applications from Google Play, plus £15 of free credit to spend.

The only drawbacks I can think about are the lack of expandable memory (e.g. SD card) and no 3G. However 16GB is plenty for most applications and I don't really need 3G. Also there is no back facing camera (there is a front-facing one), which I consider a plus, as it may limit the number of people who use tablets to make photos. Finally all of this allows Google to keep the price as low as it is.

I was looking to purchase a Tablet, not out of necessity, more as a vanity/impulse purchase, as I own a very good ultrabook and mobile phone that could perform the same function.
Well, I was wrong. The Nexus 7 surpasses all my expectations. For a tablet at the price (£200 for 16GB) it is truely value for money. The 7" form is perfect for viewing e-books, e-magazines, viewing pictures, watching movies, checking emails and surfing the internet. The screen is very sharp, maybe not as good as the iPad 2, but damn near close. The battery life has surprised me, as I've managed to get the full 10 hours (as claimed) of usuage. I've been equally surprised with how good it holds it WiFi connection(s). Front facing camera for Skype video calls worked like a treat.


The only "slight" negatives I felt, were there is no SD card slot, so you are stuck with the storage offered, which is either 8GB or 16GB. So you have to be careful with how much you load onto the device. It was not a major problem for me as I use a USB flash Drive which I connect via Micro USB OTG Adapter, so the space limitation does not bother me.


Back to the positives........The icing on the cake is, as a longtime Android user, the Nexus 7 is PURE Android. No skins or anyother custom manufactured launcher. Which means the Nexus 7 (along with other Nexus devices) will get ALL Google updates, big or small. And that can only be a good thing.

So far so good! Had the Nexus 7 for two days and so far, I e countered no problems at all. Screen is amazingly clear, processor handles all games easily and the size and weight is perfect for gaming/reading or leasure time, it does feel really comfortable in the hands even for long typing.
The only thing which I am disappointed of is the quality of the front camera. I know that you get what you pay for, but this tablet deserves better!

This is an absolutely fantastic tablet. I had read positive reviews and was still very impressed. Extremely responsive, apps work great, just gorgeous. Its perfect integration with Google products makes it a breeze to set up if you're already running your digital life through Google, and if you're not, then this tablet is a hard sell for doing so. Particularly Google Now is extraordinarily useful. Chrome browser also works great. Jelly Bean itself is a pleasure to use. Get it on your Android phone if you can!

Excellent TABLET. Best one out there right now for its price range. Processor is top notch and the screen is clear and vibrant. Its very light and its size is well designed to fit into your palm. Only qualm is that after the latest update to JellyBean 4.2 the battery seems to be draining quicker (approx after 7-8 hours) but Google is working on a fix for that so not worried about that. Honestly cant say anything bad about it. What makes it so good is that for its price range, it probably ranks amongst the higher priced tablets with the same spec.
