Amstrad DRX780 300 GB Satellite Receiver

Everything you could want from Sky's TV service. The box is easy to set up yourself and, if you presently have a Sky + box, it would be an ideal purchase as the box requires two satellite lines in. It requires the standard Sky + subscription though to recieve Sky + services or to record programmes. Certainly cheaper to buy a box from ebay rather than paying more out for the second box through Sky, as long as you buy from a trusted seller. The EPG on these boxes is much clearer and easier to navigate that the old standard or sky+ boxes.
To activate the box fully you will need a Sky Freesat card or Sky card. If you have those you will be able to view the standard HD channels, and well worth the money if you have a HD TV, or if you already have a Sky account and wanting to upgrade using a second hand box just phone up Sky, after purchasing and receiving the box, and then pair up your Sky card with the box and your package will be transferred plus if you can then ask for the HD channels for an additional subscription (apart from the Terrestrial HD channels which are free to view).
All in all a great box and easy to use.

Purchsed as multi room box for children to use so that I can watch Cricket in peace. A good price for this digibox and it does what it should, plenty of storage space and the option to save to disk. I purchased this second hand at half the price of the 'used' newer models!

Would recommend as a cheaper alternative.

This was bought to replace new multiroom sky box which did not record. The box is a good 50% bigger than the main box(used by massive sport fan, "yawn") in the other room which has 500GB space compared to 300GB on this one, but that is not a problem to me. It does all that I required, recording (full series too) and pausing realtime TV with all the sky channels I pay for. There is ample space to keep recordings for as long as you want. It did need setting up professionally. New from sky this would cost £199 and I paid a very much lower price than that to get the same result.

Works really well, and it's surprising how much TV you can fit on it! Lots of future HD recording shall take place...
