the questions i asked.
can this extend my wifi range? = yes

can i plug in hard drive to usb = no way at present
can i plug in apple tv = i did this and better wifi signal and steaming from imac - than the apple tv's own wifi!

i have a modem router with time capsule installed at 5ghz, this is downstairs in my lounge working nicely with the time capsule. installation was easy - my mac found it no problem - highly recommended.

Does exactly what is says on the tin!
It took 10 mins from opening the box to extending my wireless
network and adding an Airtunes output in my living room.
Also using it to get Sky Anytime+ rocking in my living room too
by connecting an ethernet cable to the sky box!

Well priced piece of kit to extend the range of a wireless network or to create a new network of it's own. Combined with a mac or any iOS product this is a must have in the home. Apart from the obvious networking capabilities, the airplay feature is also available and AirPrint which allow you to print wirelessly and to play your music over the network just by plugging in speakers to the unit.

Incredibily easy to install, its almost plug and play when ur using it with a mac.Great performance.

Could only connect it in 'client mode' when using Wifi, not when using ethernet. When connecting via Ethernet it would sometimes flash the amber error light for no clear reason.
