Apple iPod classic 5th Generation White (60 GB)

Good, but not the best.
When my Ipod Nano broke, so I sought out a new MP3. Many of my friends recommended a video Ipod because they had a massive amount of memory and the fact that they can play videos. So, looking at both white and black versions, I decided to get the black, I think it looks better. And, when I first got it I was very impressed.....

For holding 15,000 songs, or 25,000 photos, the Ipod is not bad in size standards. It is apparently smaller than the 30GB one. While listening to songs, you can see the album artwork as well, in vivid detail. Everything is in colour, the manufacturers boast about such technology. The videos are excellent as well, they sound just as good as the songs and look just as good as modern day TV, the timing between the sound and pictures is perfect. The games are decent, not that entertaining, but do look good in colour screen. My favourite game is `Music Quiz', where the Ipod plays a song and you have to guess which it is in a few seconds. The Ipod has a sensitive touch, when you move down play lists. The controls are very simple; you don't really even need to read a manual. The Ipod can go to really high volumes, but this can screw up the Apple headphones it comes with.
The only downside features wise is the fact that it isn't very durable and so if you scrape it then the black paint might come off, doesn't look very good. Talking about durability the screen can be scratched very easily, and any scratch always leaves a thin long white mark along the screen.

Now, why I only gave it four stars: Sometimes it will completely screw up. The Ipod will show no sign of life and you will think it is completely broken. To me this only happens for a few days, but it is extremely annoying. This usually happens when it is charging on the computer. I leave it in a room charging, come back a few hours later, and it will be turned off. I try to turn it back on, but it won't, then a few days later; it will be as good as new. But at least it has permanently messed up, yet...........

Overall this is an excellent machine in what it does; videos, songs, photos and memory. But in what YOU do with it, it isn't really that good. I really think the manufacturers where concentrating on all of the features. I really don't understand why it screws up roughly every two weeks, which is how often I charge it up because it plays 50hours of music when the battery is full. Well, the massive amount of good things overpower the bad things:

So cheap yet still one of the best MP3 players around. It may be quite a few years old now but its still better than every other new MP3 player available (excluding the newer generation iPods).
60Gb is still a huge amount and will be more than enough more most people. Video may not be as good as most mobiles now but if you are buying this your not buying it to watch movies, but its a nice feature to have available.
After nearly 7 years of use the battery is still reliable and I wouldn't be surprised if this is still kicking in another 3 years time.
Only criticism is it is quite bulky, probably the only way its showing its age.
50 quid will get you a good condition fully working one of these. Apple may get criticised for their prices but theres no doubt they will repay their value over the course of their long life.

I bought this as a fathers day present having personally using apple products for a few years.
now my old man is very poor when it comes to gadgets but in his new car is an ipod dock, so i seized the oppurtunity to introduce him to the wonderfull world of apple and after 3 days of recieving this hes gone and took out an iphone contract and now wonders how he got by without apple.
hes nearly 50 and now loves the products.
these items are great once you get over the itunes barrier and after that its pretty much plain sailing as they are so simple to use.
in my personal opinion there is no real comparision to the products, my friends have new sony experias and stuff like that and are always bragging about how much better they are than iphone and ipods, apon closer inspection all their phone menus and operating systems resemble the iphone system so personally id rather have the original over the cheap impersinations, i mean if they are all trying to copy apple they must be doing something right.

Battery life is pretty good as long as you charge it for a good amount of time. Shuffle is averagely slow but i guess you can't have it all. Overall I would rate the 5th generation ipod over any of the others as they don't have all the extra crap that you don't really need. This is an ideal ipod for someone who just wants to have a lot of music on the go. Definitely a lot of fun.

It's fabulous...I am absolutely blown away at being able to load all the songs I have ever liked and play them on random shuffle whenever I am out. No longer fazed by waiting in line etc etc. The battery life is good and it will take years to fill up this device. I have so far loaded in almost 600 tracks and room for 20 times more!!! Best thing I have bought for years.
