Absolutely spot-on.

You'll have seen it in shops, sat upon it's alarmed podium, but, until you hold this thing in your hand, free of all constraints, you can't really appreciate just how brilliant this little thing is.
The new iPod nano is solely focused on being a music player. The option to download your photos onto it is still there, but once they're on, there's not much use for them. You can't change the home-screen's background to an image of your own. Instead, you have a pre-set selection of nine very crisp backgrounds that are optimised for the screen's 240x240 pixel resolution.
Audio quality is brilliant. I also own Sony's X-Series walkman, which is touted as a high-end player in the audio department, but I can honestly say that the sound coming from the nano betters the walkman across the board. It delivers rich, detailed sound while maintaining a full tone to the mids and lows. That is, of course, after binning the included earbuds. I will still say that, in my eyes (or ears..), Sony still has the headphone market covered.
Video is missing from this iteration of the nano despite the prior model including a VGA video camera. I've never found myself missing the feature as I believe video is best left to the large-screen TVs.
The addition of a clip to the back-side of the unit is a great design choice. Once clipped to whatever garment you see fit, you will almost forget all about it. This thing is tiny, but doesn't have the trade-off of no screen, a la the iPod shuffle. It carries virtually no weight, yet still feels solidly built. Navigation of the menus is a breeze, even on a touchscreen as small as this.
At the time of writing, the current software for the device has just today been updated to v1.1. This is the standard 'bug fixes' and minor UI tweaks, but it also adds the ability to use the 'hold' button to either play/pause or skip to the next track upon double-clicking. This saves having to wake the unit and prod around the screen to achieve your desired command.
Bottom line: If you want a dedicated music player then you can't go wrong with the iPod nano. It does have its other features, such as a pedometer, but this time around, the focus is almost exclusively on the music. Just treat yourself to another pair of headphones...

Great product, it has changed from earlier nanos but has evolved to the nano name exactly. the 16gb storage is great as it can hold loads of songs. you can still put pictures on it but not videos any more (i think thats good as of its size) the nike walk counting feature is nice and the clock face is an intresting move especially with straps for your rist. the touch screen works amazingly well and has made it quick and simple to use, exactly how u want a mini ipod.
its definatly a five star product, one u wont regret buying
now back to sorting my music :-)

I love this i-pod. You can see why apple are market leaders.I'm glad i took the leap and moved up to an i -pod.It's design is great and it's so responsive. Why did i choose this? i wanted to have my music collection to be at the same audio level which i-tunes & i-pod give you, Plus I have tracks that i wanted to join when I ripped them to i-tunes.These facilities are what is lacking from any other mp3 players. One day they might cotton on.I love my music collection and this i-pod allows me to enjoy it how ever I want it. Go on get one.

i bought this ipod as ive had 3 of the old nanos and they all broke and i never had enough memory so i saved up and bought the 16gb which would hold about 1900 songs which is reeeally big for me :)
its a great ipod, the design is really nice and the screen is a good size too not too small and it gives a great picture quality.
the clip on the back is a nice touch too as so you can clip it too your pockets and change the song/volume with the buttons on the top so you dont have to keep pulling it out
i was worried that as id have loads of artists it would taking ages to scroll from a to z cos of the small screen but its suprisingly fast and easy to navigate
all in all its the best own ive owned the only downer is i find the battery doesnt last as long as the others but i put that down to it beign a touchscren and having the brightness level on full :)

Just got one for Christmas and it was AWFUL. My iphone 4S has much better sound quality and plays music MUCH louder. There's an EU law limiting the volume of music players, which the iphone is exempt from, being primarily a phone. The sound quality is bad - this sound like a CHEAP RADIO. It is impossible to listen to anything but tinny pop music, as songs that have quiet parts seem to fade away. I bought this to wear whils I run - running along a road, playing at maximum volume, all I could hear was the traffic! Only to be used in a quiet room. None of these problems occurred when using the iphone, as it could go louder and produce a much better sound.
