iPod is a line of portable media players designed and marketed by Apple and launched on October 23, 2001. The product line-up currently consists of the hard drive-based iPod Classic, the touchscreen iPod Touch, the compact iPod Nano, and the ultra-compact iPod Shuffle. iPod Classic models store media on an internal hard drive, while all other models use flash memory to enable their smaller size (the discontinued Mini used a Microdrive miniature hard drive). As with many other digital music players, iPods can also serve as external data storage devices. Storage capacity varies by model, ranging from 2 GB for the iPod Shuffle to 160 GB for the iPod Classic. All of the models have been redesigned multiple times since their introduction. The most recent iPod redesigns were introduced on September 1, 2010.
iPod touch 1st Gen
I bought this for my daughter's 3rd birthday as she keeps pinching daddy's to play the free game apps, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on an ipod for her age.
I am sooooo disappointed at the fact that my itunes won't upgrade the software so that we can get the app store on it for her. I rang Apple who said restore it and it should upgrade the software, but it hasn't. They said to try it on another computer but failing that it looks like we are going to have to take it into an Apple store, but our nearest one is miles away and her birthday is in 12 days time :'(
Also with the 1st Gen iPod you have to use headphones to listen to music, it doesn't have in-built speakers like the newer versions. We bought her some Peppa pig headphones on ebay that go on her head rather than in her ears which will be a great asset to the ipod.
Other than that it's a great little iPod

Apple iPod touch 1st Generation (8 GB) Digital Media Pl
I was having problems with my old 20 gig ipod so i thought i would try an ipod touch wow it was fantastic experience wireless access i could check ebay and mail away from my computer i decided to buy a 2nd gen 32mb itouch to get more memory and use an external microphone (Skype) and now i have bought an iphone 3gs so I am well and truly hooked now my only grumble is that using mp3 audio it dosn't remember the position unless I just press pause
Its a great device, and this version is now competitively priced
| Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
The I pod touch first generation is getting on a bit, but like most apple products, it seems to age well. Its robust, easy to use, and the docking port is pretty much standard across the range. In saying that, this version doesn't have bluetooth, and the screen is not as sharp as more recent models.
I am no audiophile, so I cant tell if the sound produced by the ipod holds a candle to other players, but it should be sufficient for the average user. Its also a negative that you cant upgrade the memory (via sd card), or easily replace the battery.
Its is probably been outstripped by current smartphones, but is handy as a second player, or to be used in a docking station at home.
IPOD 8GB NUMBER 5
THIS IPOD 8GB IS THE 5TH ONE I HAVE BOUGHT FROM E-BAY.I BOUGHT ONE FOR MYSELF THEN DECIDED TO GET THEM FOR MY HUSBAND AND THREE OLDEST GRANDCHILDREN FOR XMAS THIS YEAR,I KNOW THEY WILL ALL APPRECIATE THEM. HUBBY LOVES HIS MUSIC HE IS OFTEN OUT MOWING THE LAWN WITH HIS EARPHONES IN LISTENING TO "HIS" TYPE OF MUSIC ON HIS NANO.MY OLDEST GRANDSON IS GOING INTO THE FORCES SO HE WON`T BE ABLE TO TAKE HIS PLAYSTATION OR HIS P.C WITH HIM. WITH THIS IPOD HE CAN E-MAIL,AND PLAY GAMES.AS FOR THE TWO GIRLS-FACEBOOK,MUSIC AND GAMES WILL BE THEIR FAVOURITES. ME-- EBAY,MAIL,CATALOGUE SHOPPING.THESE LITTLE BOXES ARE THE BEST THINGS I HAVE EVER BOUGHT.THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THEM ESPECIALLY TO OTHER PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS WHO HAVE FAMILY AWAY FROM HOME SO THEY CAN KEEP IN TOUCH AND AS LONG AS THE BATTERY IS CHARGED THERE IS NO CHANCE THEY CAN RUN OUT OF CREDIT LIKE THEY CAN WITH THEIR PHONES
