Archos 3. Is it better than Ipod touch
I had been looking for a MP3 player for my 7 yr old daughter. Came across this and checked it out on the Archos website and decided it looked like just the thing. After getting it, plugged it straight into my pc and all was up and running perfectly. Menu's are clear, screen is excellent and the touch screen may need touching a bit harder than my Satio phone. The only fault that i have with it, is that there is no memory card slot to add more memory but with 8GB's, even a 7 yr old should have enough room for all her music and videos. Not good dont expect it to last
| No, I wouldn't recommend this product.
This player started out great BUT it has a setrious fault, the touch screen is very fragile and prone to cracking (just look at the number of listings on eBay 'sold for parts cracked screen') My first one I dropped only a foot or so onto wooden floor - cracked screen and Archos say it is impossibel to repair only replace at reduced price. Got one in the meantime on eBay. Worked great for 6 weeks then died completely. 3rd one (replacement for 1st one from Archos, touch screen went totally haywire, seemed to shift down and despite repeated re-sets it was impossible to re-calibrate, Touch screen has now died completely. Life of item? 13 months.
Wjhen it works it is fine but just dont expect it to last long. protective leather case is a must (not supplied by Archos. Cracked screen CANNOT be replaced.
Apart from this cannot create playlist, digital 'wheel' fiddly to use.
Plus points sound is good.

Good value ,not perfect, but you get what you pay for.
Great for passing the time in the waiting room, video is slightly jerky in motion shots, good bright clear picture, makes watching a film quite a good experience. Very good sound quality, music player works well. Touch screen works but is not a patch on the more expensive Apple products, Battery life a bit dissapointing, FM radio is reasonable, build quality is what you would expect for the money. Not being restricted by Itunes is a godsend, just drag and drop tracks, menus are quite easy. Not sure who came up eith the idea of having to reset the unit with a pin, after unit lock is used. "IDIOTIC IDEA" for the money it is good, but the larger offering from Archos may be a lot better, also the Sony Walkman products are worth looking into.

Archos 43 vision
I was not sure about this product at first. I have an Archos 30gb but with 3.5hrs battery life for video. This is similar to the ipod touch, has 8gb but 6hrs battery life and charges fairly quickly through USB. Picture quality is superb, touch screen easy to use, and you only have to drag and drop files to play them, no messing around with itunes. It also feels like a quality product with the metal back. The one fault(if you could call it a fault) is no case/stand,so you have to hold it all the time. There is a leather case available from Archos which I hope doubles as a stand.Overall I'm very happy with this item, I was considering 120gb Archos with WiFi and internet, but as I use my netbook for that, it seemed excessive.

Archos 3 vision (8 GB) MP3 Player
across the web you will find very different views on this product some which may put you off grabbing this product with both hands. The first complaint will be the wheel which lets you scroll down for tracks and artists some say its to sensitive to get to the right track but with only a few seconds of thumbling arounf you should relise that once you get to near the track only touch of the wheel will get
to where you want.the second is the headphones which arent great but what music player comes with great sounding headphones.the third is the fm output which will let you listen to the device in your car or home radio yes it can be trickey to find a good reception but if its neer the ariel you can get a reception ,bering in mind if you live in london youll have to dodge pirate radio.
the picture quliaty is great and enough space to watch tv shows and films on the move.
all in all this is a great product for the price and the best way to dodge aplle controlling your music collection.
last thing the battery is fine if you dont walk round town with it in your pocket on for 5 houres
