Archos 605 WiFi (4 GB) Digital Media Player

Excellent media player which plays avi, wmv3 and mpeg4 video from the box.
If you wish to use dvd vob files you will need a bigger storage card or hard drive version.Also you will need the extra plug ins from archos to play the vob files and other video formats as well as the web browsing and tv and radio internet features.These can be costly extras so take this into consideration when buying this device.All the plug ins do is unlock the full potential of the device because all the hardware and software is already installed.If you can buy one at the right price this is an excellent product.

This is excellect nice size screen it has everything, plays video,music, photos play flash games, read ebooks also you can surf the web it greats bigger harddrive would have been better but can take sd memory cards any thing i would say that is bad is that you have to buy plug-ins so that you can go on web and watch different movie formats

Archos products are promoted by some people as a considerably cheaper alternative to apple products: they are not. The Archos is cumbersome, the screen is desperately unresponsive and hard to navigate and having an Ipod touch too, well it simply does not compare. You also need to install all sorts of add on to operate the archos and the savings at the end of the day are not that great. On the plus side: images and videos do look good and the sound is not bad at all. So it is not all negative, but given a choice, I would wait a bit, save some money and go for the more expensive but much enjoyable and user friendly alternative.

Very good item, very easy to use straight from the box. User must make sure the item is fully charged before use though. Make sure if you are charging using a lap top that you leave the laptop open or else it will go onto standby and not charge the Archos. Instructions tell you to wait for the green light to start blinking, but a good overnight charge will be enough to start using and enjoying.

To download your Favourite BBC programmes, go to the BBC Iplayer site, choose the programme, select downloads for portable players, save to your desktop. Then once you connect the Archos, you can click on the saved programme and drag it into the Video file. Simple.

The picture quality on this item is very good and has a large viewing area but still portable enough to enjoy on a long journey or just on the way to work.

After reviewing several other items, i decided to go with this and I'm glad i did.

I haven't tried downloading films yet, but will get around to it soon.

Great storage capacity! (160GB) Poor battery life mainly because of the hard drive, nice design, a bit slow, not so good touchscreen but a good device for connecting to the tv and watch videos, immages. Listen to music, videos, immages and web browsing with integrated wifi. Not too bad for an old Device. Overall rating: 5/10
