After looking at all the reviews on other sites I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. All I can say is that any negatives were, in my opinion, very minor. I was prepared for something cheap and poor quality, but was absolutely delighted from the moment I opened the box.
I purchased the tablet primarily for web searching, email and listening to music.
The build quality is very good as is the slim style design. This makes for a lightweight device and comfortable surfing for hours.
The array of connectivity options is more than sufficient, providing access via wifi and bluetooth. A 3G USB option is available for internet access on the go.
I found the screen to be very responsive and had no difficulty using the on-screen keyboard, although an external USB/Bluetooth option does make typing easier.
Processing speed is adequate. Some download times for even small apps can be quite lengthy, although this does not prevent you from continuing your surfing, nor did it detract from my enjoyment of the product.
I found it easy to access the google apps market by using the Arctools app. I can imagine that some of the non-technical and impatient might struggle with the setup of this tablet, but if you take your time and follow the intuitive interface, it's really not that different to using a windows based pc. It behaves just like a large smartphone (same android OS).
The large screen makes viewing so much easier than on some small netbooks and I really liked the animated wallpapers. The sound quality, whilst not crystal hi-fi, is largely dependent on the quality of your headphones and the quality of the digital audio files. I found that bluetooth headphones worked best, and ironed out any mild distortion issues.
I've downloaded the bbc iplayer app and was pleasantly surprised that the processor was eventually able to cope with few pauses. The picture quality was very good.
Access to ebooks is excellent and the quality of the text is once again very good, making this a very competitive alternative to a number of the quite expensive e-readers.
I've also downloaded the free skype app, which seemed very straight forward to set up. Here, the weakest link is definitely the webcam. It's better than nothing but not much - but then, why would you would be buying a tablet for the quality of the webcam?
I was initially concerned that I might not be able to print from my tablet, however, I quickly located an app allowing me to use my wifi brother printer, set it up and it worked first time. There were plenty of other available printer options for other manufacturers - they all seemed to be well catered for.
All in all, this is an amazing quality product, at a remarkably low price (I paid just £159). I'm delighted with my choice, took it into work, and took it out of the box in front of a colleague, who went straight out to buy one online, for her husband. It might not be an ipad but at a fraction of the price and with some superb features, I'm not really fussed.

This is a very good tablet considering it was the first android tablet to go on the market i think no where near polished as the Ipad but a lot cheaper. Screen quality very good and not a bad touch screen although it get very greasy with finger marks I use a Acare Captive Stylus Pen and fitted XXiM anti glare screen protector and use a Tuf Luv leather case to protect it. The archos has a micro SD slot, HDMI out using a special cable and a USB host port I have attached a Lecie Rikiki 500gb HDD formated to FAT32 which works just fine to view all my photos and video and listening to my MP3's and the sound is not too bad from its small stero speakers. The archos runs android 2.2 with the latest firmware update so you can use latest flash player for youtube etc. There is a very good forum called Archos Fans whic will hepl you with any problems you have and give advice.

If you know about computers, you will love this tablet. If you dont know about computers, you will love this tablet.
The onscreen keyboard is a bit of a pain, but I have bought a protection case that has a small usb keyboard built in.
Dont get sucked into buying codecs from Archos to play avi/mp4 files, just download VLC and ESfile manager from the appslib market or Android market as these collectively will play whatever you throw at them.
I couldnt find out how large an SD card it can take, so I played it safe and bought a 16 GB but I do presume it can handle a 32GB. I will try when the prices drop a little, but for the time being, 16GB is enough for me.
The screen is tough and doesnt scratch with normal use (I am a mechanic and dont have the smoothest of hands, but the screen is able to take a hearty game of fruit ninja or angry birds with only finger prints left).
I bought a Flytouch but sent it back as the screen is as strong as chocolate and looked awful after the ten minutes it took to try and set the damn thing up.
Others have complained about the viewing angle but I think it is fine to take to bed and watch a movie with my lovely wifey.
The speakers on this are brilliant and very clear. They bounce sound off the walls very well and have good bass.
The setup out of the box was seamless and it automatically updated itself as soon as I entered the WEP key on my network.
You can multitask like a normal pc on this. I played some of the supplied songs whilst it updated itself and i played angry birds.
Webcam is pants but I didnt buy it for for that and I have a usb logitech that I can use should I feel the need.
The battery is something else. It has gone about 9 hours and still has 22% remaining, what more can I say!
Dont go for the cheap Chinese tablets as you will be disappointed as I was. They really are terrible compared to this little beauty. This is worth the forty quid more than a flytouch etc costs.
Buy this if you want a good quality alternative to ipads etc.....it will do everything they can and more.

If you wanna buy a cheapest tablet apart from apple Ipad,I would suggest buy Archos one,I did use Zepad,Zenethink before and they are more like a toys, the design the size all was catastrophe .They were very slow to respond I can say their features were much more advanced I mean like android app.but they are no where near this one, very quick and touch screen is very sensitive not like the other,I would recommend this

looks a nice tablet, but lacks ram,256mb hardly enough for this machine and not even possible to upgrade ram to anything better unless your prepared to pay out about what the tablet cost.i would put this tablet at the child market as i think adults would be very dissapointed .processor good though and picture clarity is good for a basic 480p hd resoloution, worst thing for me is no possibility of using youtube as it just wont play no matter what you try. found a program that i can download the videos from youtube then play them but who wants to do that all the time.so for me this tablet is well made but seriously lacking in thought,im afraid Archos, you failed with this one.not even a good try really.pay a bit more and get better memory, better ram and something that at leastcomes close to a useable tablet.
