While this latest instalment of the Battlefield franchise is certainly ahead of the drivel that Activision produces, it still falls short in a lot of areas within today's gaming standards.

A depressingly short, boring and overly done campaign, it sets it's own standards very low. Levels are completely linear and the storyline is pretty much ripped off Call of Duty.

The multiplayer is however where this game makes a strong stand. Dedicated servers make up for the 24 player cap which is still ahead of it's competitors in both those aspects, but inferior to on the PC's 60 slot servers.

As a side note, the in-game interface is pretty ropey and doesn't allow you to exit a server during the 1 minute map change period at the end of every game, you know, the bit where one would actually want to back-out. You also have to pay for an "on-line pass" costing 800 Microsoft points per console to play this game online which I feel is a cheap trick.

All in all this game still achieves what it sets out to do: it's fun. A solid multiplayer FPS.

I was looking forward to this game for ages having read the reviews of how the game play would be and having seen the trailers. Does it live up to the hype. Simply put - no.

When are FPS game designers going to bring out something a bit more expansive and not so linear. I played through this game in less than seven hours and was utterly gobsmacked that it finished so quickly. It would be great to be able to wander off course a little more, and having the AI treammates around all the time can be very annoying. At least with the likes of Brothers In Arms you could command them to do things. In Battlefield 3, they tell you what to do, lead you all over the place and do precious little to boot.

Half the game is spent listening to the running story in the interrogation (a la Black Ops) sequences, or reloading the game and going through some very boring and tedious set pieces to get back to where you were.

I have played a little on the multiplayer but find the maps too big and too hard to find anyone. I am sure others will like it, but it was not really for me.

I have given this game two stars and it only gets this as the graphics and gameplay are pretty good, although my new Xbox 360 did find some stammers towards the end.

Awesome game, it is all about the ONLINE MULTIPLAYER

This game has long been awaited, despite a few teething problems it is proving to be the best game around at present. Comparing it to MW3 it is leagues above, Call of duty just don't seem to move on or enhance the online multiplayer, it has been the same since MW1 MW2 and black ops. The online multiplayer is where Battlefield excels, there is a huge variety off missions and even more modes than in bad company 2. I love the conquest and squad deathmatch games, but have to be in the mood for RUSH, a recent map expansion has not long been released and hopefully lots more to come. Stick to hardcore it is much more realistic, you feel like it takes ages to shoot someone on normal mode. Battlefield really works when your squad and team work together, running around like a headless chicken is for COD. We often play brilliant matches when myself and friends are on together and it can be a couple off really good hours off gaming. Single player is good, MW3 is is actually better, but the real gaming all comes in the online multiplayer, if you play that you will get your money worth ten times over, I actually went through two Battlefield bad company 2 discs when I was on that. Online multiplayer and good teamwork with your gamer mates is where this game is. If you just play single players your not really experiencing what games such as this have to offer, try the online multiplayer it will totally enhance your game experience...IT IS ALL ABOUT THE ONLINE MULTIPLAYER......

Good game, if you've got really nothing to do.

Really amazing shooter game. It doesn't pull a lot into it, as it get boring after the while if you've played CoD all the time, but on the other hand, you can have some fun with it. It's kind of a routine if you are into CoD, as you might dislike this title. However, when you think about it, it is almost catching up.

Excellent Campaign, Good Multiplayer. Worth the price just for the Story!

I got this game with high expectations in my head due to all the comments being flung around saying its going to be better than call of duty modern warfare 3 on-line and story wise.

I found the Campaign to be excellent, I enjoyed the action and the story it definitely doesn't disappoint it keeps up the reputation for best story mode game play. and worth buying just for that!

the Multiplayer aspect is what let me down, probably because I logged on with high expectations. I don't know, I would say its good but not the best. They have definitely improved the on-line play from the previous game but it seems like it was missing something and the movement seem liked it had resistance. not lag but difficulty moving the character, but I liked the ranking system and the graphics, level of game play wasn't what I expected but worth a look either way!.
