Battlestar Galactica for a new audience

Created: 03/01/10
A fantastic follow-up to the original classic. This 15 rated series is not for the faint hearted as it's very tough, dark and edgy. I love the haunting theme tune and the special effects are stunning. The characters are very dynamic and very quickly, the viewer will feel connected to them and care about their fate. The raunchy sex scenes are not necessary and at times, distasteful, but this is Battlestar Galactica for a new modern audience. It is unquestionably, far superior to the original series and once the viewer has seen a few episodes, they will be hooked. A final word of warning to potential viewers, prepare to be shocked.

Battlestar Gallactica 2005

I am not a Sci-fi fan. I don't usually like anything on the Sci-fi Channel because I find that the acting is poor and the plots are hokey. I didn't even want to watch Battlestar Gallactica. Starbuck and Boomer are females? I didn't think they could pull it off. My husband started watching the mini-series and I got hooked. I love this series. It's believable, plausible, and the acting is much better than anything else on Sci-fi...I came in completely critical and was pleasantly surprised. I look forward to the new episodes every Friday night.

Battlestar galactica season one

Created: 18/02/08
This was quite a surprise for me. I used to watch the orginal when i was a kid and even own it on dvd. But this was something different and yet the same. It has al the elements from the orginal but alot better. Don't get hung up on the hype you've heard about how some of the main characters differ in sex to the orginal. Because after you delve into this series you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. The new Starbuck kicks more 'tail' than the orginal ever did and is way more of a deeper character.
I will say that if you want the full story you'll need to watch the tv movie which is also on dvd. I bought it by accident thinking it was this and i am now glad i did. Although it all makes perfect sense just to begin with episode one. Go on give it a go i had reservations too but trust me they're all gone now.

Battlestar Galactica season 1

Created: 03/07/06
As a fan of the old "Battlestar Galactica" many years ago I was excited about the new version, but had reservations about some of the changes, such as Starbuck and Boomer being women for example. It seemed a bit p.c. for my liking. However, when I saw the mini series I was overwhelmed by how good this show was. Season 1 is even better. In fact to describe this as an updated version is an understatement. The producers have done nothing less than re-invent sci-fi, with an authentic feeling plot and story, complex characters, and a completely new approach to special effects. The effects make space flight and combat have a much more believable feel to them, but they don't let the technology available these days dominate things. They use as many proper sets and actors as possible, rather than just c.g. This is not however the selling point of the show for me. The thing that appeals to me the most is the fine storylines, actually believable, delivered by people who can act, and convey rounded characters rather than two dimensional "goodies" and "badies". Speaking as a lifelong star wars fan, I can say to any sci-fi fan this is the best sci-fi I've ever seen. To anybody who doesn't like sci-fi I would say it is irrelevant. If you like gripping drama, you'll love this!
