Review for: BlackBerry Pearl 8100 - Black (Unlocked) Smartphone
No wifi or gps, 1.3 mega pixel camera, "tracker BALL" and has a keyboard that really takes some getting used to! However... It's got a good speaker for music and audio books, a decent memory expansion which as far as I know goes up to 4gb, a versatile operating system that supports pdf files and java applications, built in spell checker, voice recorder, a task manager, excellent battery life and *a strange derivative of a qwerty keyboard (You get used to it.) None of that touch screen malarchi, so if you enjoy texting without having your eyes glued to the screen it's a winner!
I've had one before and I knew exactly what I was getting, I just had to have another one. The pearl is a good little smartphone, it's got all of the basics anyone could need and real good quality software from Research In Motion. Lets face it, most phones are the same now, most of the technology is in mobile internet and "apps" (java files)
The ball is annoying as it is prone to sticking although that's easily remedied by popping the sensor out and cleaning it, keep it in a case and it'll serve you well! Also from previous experience, they don't work well submerged in tea!:S

Review for: BlackBerry Pearl 8100 - Black (Unlocked) Smartphone
Love this phone.

Not a business user so really got it for the nice and easy internet access and the usability with applications etc. Plus I hate the I phone.

Qwerty Keyboard is a nightmare to use, reportedly takes about a week to get used to it. Im about three days in and getting there :)

Running system is easy to use. Had an HP Ipaq 514 before this and found its internet browsing similar just it wasn;t as easy to use.

Great Phone. No point in me going mental on this as theres LOADS of reviews online. As a general phone I really like it.

Review for: BlackBerry Pearl 8100 - Black (Unlocked) Smartphone
The blackberry is the best phone around for using it with emails and internet. Otherwise it is a pretty standard phone apart from the QWERTY keypad which takes along time to get used to. The features are pretty standard but then again the main type of person will buy the phone for the SMS, calling, emailing and interent usage and not the camera and MP3 player. Overall it is a very good all rounder phone and highly recommended!

Review for: BlackBerry Pearl 8100 - Black (Unlocked) Smartphone
I wanted a new phone for a cheap price to last until my upgrade. I couldn't believe my luck when I won it on ebay. The phone is really good, camera great on it. The qwerty keyboard can take a little time to get used to. Think it looks quite smart and sophisticated has great features and the best calender and phone bookI have seen on a phone.

great quality but costly

Review for: BlackBerry Pearl 8100 - Black (Unlocked) Smartphone
As an idea the Blackberry is fantastic, email and internet on tap. But the reality is a bit more different. To have the browser avaliable to you/send emails/ send mms's , one must subscribe to your phone user ( e.g o2) Blackberry Tariff. These are to be honest very costly, there is a pas-as-you-use option which costs 2.70 per mb, this may seem cheap however in order to be connected to the data network 24/7 this takes 10k per day and you will be charged for this no matter what. Also a months notice is required before stopping the service. Looking at it simply it all adds up.
Of course there are unlimited packages and business ones. All of which come at a cost.
For the regular user I fear the Blackberry is just to exspensive. An ordinary mobile phone will let you use wap or wifi without a subscription. And even the low end 30 pound mobiles will let you send mms. Unless you are a business person who needs to be avaliable all the time it just doesnt pay to have this phone.
The need just doesnt justify the cost.
