Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 for Microsoft Xbox 360

Created: 18/04/11
It’s no news that Activision and Infinity Ward have a new Call of Duty for shooter fans. There’s also no surprise that the new CoD title has faced a number of controversies even before a copy hit the store shelves—one of which involved whether the main Call of Duty brand logo would be left off the game box (it seems like it was…and then wasn’t). And, for that matter, no one should be shocked that some stores started selling it ahead of the official release date.

By far the biggest jaw dropper was leaked footage of a scene with mass civilian and law-enforcement casualties—a level that’s comprised almost entirely of such controversial carnage that the gamemakers inserted a “disturbing content” disclaimer that you have to agree to or the scene will be dropped from your playthrough. (No spoilers if you haven’t already heard about it, but rest assured that, controversial or not, it’s integrated into the storyline very well and isn’t gratuitous in its motive as a plot twister.)

Yes, it will be controversial in many regards—chances are, if you consciously picked up an M-rated first-person shooter, you know you’ll be facing blood and death, though this still does push the envelope in the moral-decision department—but probably the last controversy will be the debate over whether it’s Game of the Year or not. I won’t enter into that discussion just yet, until we’ve had a chance to check out Assassin’s Creed II and Left 4 Dead 2, but stick to the facts of the game for those five of you who haven’t already made up your mind to buy it.

MW2, as I’ll call it from here on out, is a shooter that’s filled with drama. And it’s not just the drama that comes from the story and gameplay, but from every facet of its development. In fact, one of the dramatic effects is that Infinity Ward isn’t afraid to kill off main characters. That kind of thing may be even more disturbing and shocking than the level we previously discussed.

Other players may be disturbed and unsettled by the near level-to-level changes in location and main character. A recent trailer showed, among other scenes, a shot from space. Though it doesn’t last long and, again, is well integrated into the story, some may find that a bit outrageous. Suffice it to say that, when it comes to the Call of Duty franchise, almost anything goes—and it often does in MW2. If having loose ends or getting too convoluted a story is a dealbreaker for you, you’ll probably like MW2 less than I did.

What’s without question is that MW2 is a full-featured game spread across three strong modes—and doesn’t seem to sacrifice any of them as a result:

The game couldn’t be without a single-player campaign, which tells a wild story that picks up where MW1 left off, and which takes you through a number of locations, including blizzard-blinding Kazakhstan, a maze-like shack village in Brazil and an extensive tour of the Washington D.C. area, including an eerie gun battle through a suburban neighborhood nearby lined with prim houses and passenger cars.

Call of Duty games don’t come too often—and Infinity Ward Call of Duty games are rarer still, so we all need to relish this one as the installment to hold us for what will probably be a couple of years. I think there’ll be a lot of gamers who’ll be more than happily sated by Modern Warfare 2 until the next one makes an appearance.

The call of duty needs answering once again, as the blockbusting first person shooter series returns to the modern day. A direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you now play new character Sgt Gary "Roach" Sanderson. Your commander is "Soap" from the first game as you join a multinational anti-terrorist squad out to stop Russian ultra nationalists.

Watch your squad grow from inexperienced rookies to veteran warriors A snowmobile race is just one of the new vehicle sections. Modern Warfare 2 is a direct sequel to Call of Duty 4. You'll journey all around the world in the fight against terrorism.

Many of the details on the game are still sketchy but it promises to feature an even more varied series of locales than the ever before, including a snowbound enemy camp that starts with a daredevil mountain climb across the ice before a stealthy infiltration goes awry and you have to run for your life by commandeering a snowmobile.

But that's just the single player mode - the multiplayer is expected to be even more ground-breaking than before, with new co-op options and even more rewards and perks for competitive play.

Game Features

Call of Warfare: Stunning cinematic action, including new underwater missions, new gadgets such as the motion detector and new vehicles including snowmobiles and more.

Rough guide: Massive globe-spanning adventure sees you travelling to the deserts of Afghanistan, the slums of Rio de Janerio and the wilderness of Russia.

Bigger world: New larger levels allow you to tackle missions however you want: will you try a frontal assault or a more stealthy approach from another angle?

Special co-op: New Special Forces mode will introduce two player co-operative play for the first time, in a series of non-story missions.

Be the best: Competitive multiplayer is even bigger and better than before, with all-new rewards for everyone from raw recruits to the most experienced

Modern Warfare 2

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best games to hit the Xbox 360. The storyline is amazing, as it has relations to CoD 4. Even though the storyline can be completed in one solids day of play, it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The graphics are outstanding and the online multiplayer is one of it's key features, it keeps you occupied for ages while working your way through the ranks, then getting the option to hit prestige.

Overall, the game is brilliant and a must have for any Cod and Xbox 360 fan.

Exciting, Loud and Explosive = Call Of Duty MW2

 | Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
Created: 27/05/11
The game is exciting, loud and explosive.
The game has an easy navigating menu with three corresponding menus. These are Special Ops, Campaign and Multiplayer.

The campaign is excellent with lots of varying objectives and many different scenes telling a story following on from Modern Warfare.

Special Ops is more of a training course where you can shoot targets, progressing through levels. You can do this alone or with a friend.

Multiplayer can be played on XBOX Live through different matches such as team deathmatch, capture the flag, all-for-all and many more to be unlocked. These are against other players from around the world. Depending on how good you are at the game depends on how you find it because there is no difficulty setting so if you are a beginner you can be playing against experienced players; and if you are experienced you can be playing against beginners.

On the multiplaayer menu there is also system link, private matches (with your own friends only if they have the game), Split screen (with people with you through your console), and other ways of playing.

I have also played Black Ops, the follow on game, recently and have not been able to see any difference in graphics, both being very good, however I have missed not being able to play Combat Training and Zombies in Modern Warfare 2 where you can in Black Ops.
