Excellent lens to replace the 18-55 and 55-250 which came with the camera, avoiding all that lens swapping and carrying. The 67mm diameter object lens allows more light in and the IS is excellent for low light situations. Super quality photos result - very pleased with my purchase, especially at Ebay prices!

Camera lens falsely advertised as faulty!

Camera lens falsely advertised as faulty.
This could have been a review about a lens that “just needed cleaning out”, but ended up in a dispute, as the lens have been submersed in SALT water and had a “tide” marked inside!
Buyer beware, it would seem that some untrustworthy people will not describe the items as they are, or how they have been damaged,
My suggestion is to always ask what the fault is and if there is more than one fault. List them all.
But more importantly, if it is not working, ask is the item has been water damaged, by condensation or submersion.
This information will become invaluable if the item turns out “not to be as described” and becomes part of a dispute/return.
In my case with the seller, ebay ruled that a refund was due as the item was not as described.
The item’s details, just in case it turns up again;-

Good luck in buying bargains, and do not be put off by this review. Ebay did rule on this case and upheld the rights of the buyer. So shop for these bargains, they are out there.

I am just getting into photography and started out with the 18-55 lens which is a nice little lens but really has next to no zoom capability and for carrying round this can be a hassle as it means that to take photos of anything that is even slightly too far away, you either have to swap lens or crop it back later.
Therefore I was really excited to have a lens that has the same capabilities of my 18-55 lens but with the advantage of being able to zoom in quite a decent way. It arrived and I was instantly impressed. The build quality is great and not too heavy (455g) and with a 67mm filter it looks pretty impressive too. Good IS and the image quality from what I have experienced is good. Definitely a great little (but not too little) lens, a great replacement for the canon 18-55 kit lens for photographers wanting a bit more versatility.

Bought this lens as an upgrade from my 18-55 mm, this lens is very good, not for professionals tho, but it is a great all round lens with an amazing focal length.
The lens is not too heavy and is quite silent when zooming, also image stabilisation does a great job

This is a compromise lens for people like me who cannot afford L series glass. I use this on a Canon 40d body and my initial impressions are very positive. The Is function is reliable and I can hand hold at 1/15 reliabley. The lens mount is metal, but the plastic used to make the lens body is solid and seems robust. Most importantly, the glass seems very good. Sharp, well resolved images are very impressive. Lichen on a statue show great detail. I bought this on the strength of Ken Rockwells review and he is absolutely right. This is the only Canon lens I will use and it will stay on the body.
