Review For: Canon EOS 1100D / Rebel T3 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera - Black (Kit w/ EF-S IS II 18-55mm Lens)
Have used about 8 models of ixus all are great and do exactly what is required of them. decided to buy a DSLR after having a go with a friends eos 550d/rebel T1i. image quality is very good with like lens on each camera almost un noticeable difference on A4 size print with high quality printer. build quality is slightly cheaper than other canon eos/rebel but this camera is meant to be an entry level DSLR. video mode is good too 720p hd one touch button adds for ease of use. good selection of modes means there is always a good chance to get a good shot of what your looking at as long as you have the right lens. Canon 28-105 Telephoto USM lens without image stabiliser is perfect for this camera. sharpness is sometimes compromised in no flash mode. overall this camera is great at what it is designed to be, an entry level DSLR which is reasonably priced. flash could do with being just a little brighter.

Review For: Canon EOS 1100D / Rebel T3 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera - Black (Kit w/ EF-S IS II 18-55mm Lens)
I got in to photography last year and bought the Canon EOS1000D. I got used to all the controls and became a "Canon" fan as the operations are easy to use and understand. I needed a second camera and would have happily got myself another EOS1000D but as the 1100D has now taken over with a few extra features it made sense to upgrade to this model. Same great menu system, added feature is movie capability and better CMOS quality. All the few additional features make it worthwhile the upgrade for somebody like me who is on a budget and cant run to the 550D or better. Kit lens supplied feels cheap and lightweight but has performed well, it is plastic after all but then I had a number of lenses from my EOS1000D that fit it anyway so it is no problem for me. Canon has a great wide selection of lenses to fit this model, picture quality is great and it is more than enough for my requirements. Highly recommended and much easier to get to use than the Nikon equivalent (better menu). Could do with a slightly larger live view screen but at 2.7" it is an improvement on the EOS1000D 2.5" version.

1100D is a good starter camera, I have used Sony, Nikon this was the first ever canon i have bought, as a gift. It is not a great camera, but not too bad for starter esp when you considering money factor. If you can save a bit more, 550D or Nikon 3100 can be better option, due to build quality. as 1100D offers v poor build quality.

great camera, easy to use for a first time owner of a DSLR, I found the menu's easy to navigate and very similar to my canon compact. The lens are easy to attached / remove and use. I have only taken a few practice photographs so far, but the quality compared to my (very good) compact (which has bigger megapixels) is so much better, even on automatic setting, although I am practising with the manual settings. So far it has every function that I need (and some) to take grate pictures and practice with an SLR - does exactly what it says on the tin. Not too heavy, quite bulky - there are smaller SLR's out there - but this is one of the cheapest beginner SLR's and the smaller ones are much more expensive. you get what you pay for - there are many superior cameras but are much more pricey than this one - if you want a beginner SLR that takes great pictures and enables you to learn how to use manuals settings - this is one of the best. The standard 18-55mm lens is good for all round pics, the 75-300mm is a great zoom lens (again you can get better, but you will pay it), for amature purposes these lens are spot on, the only additonal one I may purcase would be a macro lens.

This camera is perfect for what I wanted it for. Astrophotography.
The lenses and adapters available for this camera would suit any budding photographers needs.
The picture quality is amazing.
The camera is easy to use and the more advanced features are easy to experiment with.
