I have used Canon cameras for about 25 years now and graduated from film to digital 7 years ago. I upgraded from a 450D to the 600D because my daughter wanted the 450D! For me, Canon cameras have always been high quality, good value, reliable and they produce good pictures. The 600D is no exception. I don't know how they cram so much technology and so many features into the same size camera and keep the price so low. I am delighted with my purchase, and so is my daughter.

Canon 600D camera itself is fantastic, but the standard lens kit (18-55mm) zoom, isn't amazing. Image quality is great, and it takes high standard of photos from wide-angle up to mid telephoto range, so is quite good for portrait photography. My only gripe is that using the lens for video work, gives problems while zooming in and out on a subject. The aperture isn't fixed, so there are noticeable (and annoying) stop jumps as you change the focal length back and forth. It's ok for panning and non-zoom filming tho. Definitely should invest in a better, possibly fixed aperture prime or zoom lenses for video work. Overall, this is a great camera at a great price.

After doing extensive research on entry-level DSLR's, I chose the Canon EOS 600d as my first DSLR! I was mainly drawn to the sheer simplistic, sleek body of the camera - not to mention the ever-so-handy articulating screen. The functions on the camera are more than adequate for my level of photography and the menu guide is an extra bonus for all beginners out there! The thing which I love about this product is its accessibility. Everything is easy and straight-forward to use and the camera is far from intimidating! I have minimal uncertainties about the camera, apart from the lack of control of ISO, exposure on the video mode. However, I knew this before I purchased the camera! In comparison to all other entry-level DSLRs, this is the perfect choice for me. If you're not into the articulating screen, then pick up a Canon 550d instead for a slightly smaller price!

Great entry level camera for amateur photographers who want to produce near-professional quality photos.
Video operation is good too, though make sure you get a large memory card (at least 8gb) if you want to shoot more than 45 mins video and have photos on there as well.
