Superb image quality.
High iso settings are still sharp and detailed.
Nice solid build with easy to access controls.
A couple of saved custom modes a la Fuji would be handy.
Great zoom range.

Excellent DSLR with many professional features built into the operating system. Picture quality in RAW and JPEG is very good with the kit lens supplied and is top notch when prime lenses are used. The lens stability system helps compensate for the fact that the lens is not "fast", though the autofocus system is relatively fast and very accurate. The excellent quality and very versatile articulated LCD screen is a major plus. The only down side noticed to date is that the battery life is only just sufficent for a day out shooting - having a spare charged battery to hand is a must!
This camera and lense combination is certainly an excellent choice for those new to the world of DSLR, and with the correct lens choice the 600D / Rebel T3i is a truly professional quality camera.

Firstly I wish to clarify that, for those the first time buyers, I bought the Japanese version EOS Kiss X5 with 18-55mm IS II lens from dctrade-uk. I first worried about the language issue being the Japanese model. Following the enquiry to the seller, it was clear that the camera is Japanese made, lens Taiwan made, all camera body menu and language pack is in English. So I decided to buy. Yes all in English. Of course, the battery charger is not UK plug so the adaptor comes with it.
Now the camera - I am not a professional. So my review is not a point to point. It is absolutely joy to see the quality of photos after a quick test drive. Wow! Amazing! I am fairly new to DSLR. There are still a lot a lot to learn. However everything on the menu is quite easy to follow. And easy to shoot. Built, size and weight all fit well for me. There is not a single bad point so far. I am absolutely delighted to have one.
I have been using the compact Canon IXUS series since 4 mega pixels model. So when it comes down to Canon or Nikon, it was so easy for me to choose Canon. However, I did go to the shop to actually see both Nikon d5100 and Canon EOS 600d. Canon EOS 600d feels better. Menu position, grip, and built, Canon edges.
For what I need and what I am capable, it is a perfect camera! Highly recommended.

this camera is the updated version of the canon 550D and the 60D.not really much difference, sensor is the same.it has a angle foldout screen, the 550D hasnt.the 600D is smaller than the other 2.this is the reason my wife bought it,if you got small hands then this is the one between the three.picture quatity is fab on this and the other 2 and recording full hd is great.the lens with this kit is a perfect all rouder lens for someone starting out with dslr.being a canon the lens are resonable priced in shops and you can pick up some bargains on ebay like this camera and lens i bought on ebay brand new and still £250 cheaper than the high street camera stores.

I bought this camera because I was finding I was outgrowing the high-end compact digital camera I already owned (Powershot SX200IS). With me starting my degree in the field of Art and Design, a D-SLR was an obvious choice for a replacement. The EOS 600D was the latest entry-model made by Canon at the time, so it instantly appealed to me. Its features enable both automatic creative features, similar to the ones found on compact digitals like Creative Auto and the ability to add Creative Filters post capture. In contrast you still have the ability to use the manual controls over a powerful camera. I would definitely recommend this camera for anyone who is moving away from digital compacts, who still enjoys the comfort of having those all important presets you come to rely on with a compact.
