really great for small images! the scanner works really really well, it looks great and is very high quality, although without the ink cartridges you do have to spend more money, so consider that when you are purchasing, i found colour and greyscale ink for £25 at its cheapest

The delivered price for this printer was less than a set of new cartridges. This is an entry level machine and to expect wonders would not be fair. I use it for rough prints but it can produce clear images if fed the right paper. Colours not very faithful but OK. Wireless less than stellar compared to my HP printer; latter prints from an iPad and iMac. The Canon works without wires from Windows 7 only. Scan quality is OK, but my 5-year old dedicated Canoscan is faster and picks up more detail. Copying function works fine. All in all not a bad little printer but Mac users may struggle to get wireless to work if running later than Snow Leopard. For my son's homework and the odd print it is fine. But I would spend more to get a proper photo printer if that is what you are after.

Great looking printer for no money, sadly woefully lacking in providing the promised wifi capaility. YOU WILL FIND THAT YOU ARE CONSTANTLY RELODING DRIVERS ETC TRYING TO GET RELIABLE CONNECTIONS.
I finally gave in and now only use it wired to my pc - even then it sometimes cant see the printer.
Scanning takes forever as does production of a printed page, the device goes through interminably long whirrings and clickings before anything emerges from the clattering drop door which forms the print exit.
Ok for £40 I suppose.

It's a good wireless printer with a good price. Photo quality is also good. I printed some A4 photos and use it as a wall pictures. Very good thing that cartridges can be refilled manually - it's a very easy process.
To connect to the printer I use router. The Printer without any problem defined my wireless protected network and connected to it. I am happy.

So far I am enjoying the use of Canon's Pixma MP495. I make celebrational invitation cards and use alot of heavy card stock. The way this little black sleek machine moves is fast and good quality prints. I could not be happier, however the ink isn't cheap-infact it cost me double the price of the printer! Typical of these multi-functioning machines. But who's complaining? I would recommend this printer to any budding arts and craft enthusiast, home body, home office or small business. It's a great all rounder.
