) After having read much about flash and how it could dramatically affect how an image looks, I decided to go out and buy myself a unit. I'm really new to photography, but I really didn't want one of the cheaper speedlites marketed towards consumers. I wanted either the 430 ex II or the 580 ex II. 580 ex II is far beyond my budget, so I went for the 430 ex II.
The 430 ex II is a capable and powerful flash unit capable of filling any role. Very versatile to suit one's needs, especially considering the different angles the flash head can move. Build quality is great; no complaints there. The only thing that I think could have been a bit more useful would be an audible recycle. Mark II has silent recycling, but an audio queue could help with shooting when looking through the viewfinder and not at the flash. It's a minor thing, though.

) This is an excellant product one of canons best flashes in my opinion. Convenient for all types of flash photography. The swivel head is an absolutly brilliant part of the flash, its excellant for bouncing light off of walls and ceillings for that extra special photo without the shadow effect of a built in flash and no red eye.

Good as I am start to use that flash for first time.For amateur as me its perfect. Cheap good Canon speedlite recomended for all beginers.

Versatile, powerful, user friendly, everything you would want from a unit like this. Looks and feels the part from the moment you take it out of the box, a relatively concise and easy to follow manual.
