) I have come into the Hunger series quite late but after reading 3 of the Eragon books I had some time to kill before the 4th comes out on paperback so thought I would try the Hunger Games as I enjoyed the twilight series and this was described as the new Twilight. I was quite shocked by the storyline for the first book and the violence carries on in the second book it is only a small portion of the book. I think it is well written, the characters are very interesting and you are shocked throughout with the twists and turns in the book. I would recommend this book but for possibly an older audience, the story is based on survival and killing each other and there are parts of the book where the Capitol carry out quite evil and disturbing acts. I think it is quite thought provoking, i'm not sure how original i find it though as I have in the past watched the film battle royale which had an almost identical story to it with children put on an island and made to kill each other for entertainment. I think it will be interesting to see how the violence will be shown in the films that are due to be released in march for the first book.

I read the first book of the hunger games trilogy, and purchased the second one "catching fire" and it was absolutely fantastic! I was gripped throughout, and literally could not put the book down! I would definitely recommend it to anyone, as I probably wouldn't have read this if my friend hadn't recommended it to me, so now I'm recommending it to you. Read it!!!!

) While I didn't think this was as exciting and unpredictable as the first, I still thoroughly enjoyed it! Couldn't stop reading it and usually stayed up til the early hours until I completed it, ahah. :)
