Do you take your music seriously?
There are people in the world who are so dedicated to music that an MP3 function on their phone just isn't good enough. For these people - the kind who know that an iPod just won't do the job - there is the Creative Zen Vision:M.
I first bought this several years ago - and I still had it until recently when it was unfortunately stolen. Rather than leap into the world of conventional MP3s, I decided to get the same model again.
If you buy this device, it will last forever. Holding it in your hand, you'll realise how rugged it is and how easy the controls are to operate. It syncs with Windows Media Player so you don't need extra software (though I do recommend using the software that's included, it comes with some great features) and I never had to convert videos into a new format.
Walking to work or taking a long train journey, I've used the video and music features and even recorded with the voicerecord feature and I was impress at the quality of the video and audio. Using the adaptor, you can connect this to your TV and play movies on a big screen, and I recommend purchasing the AV connector to do this.
It also charges when connected to your laptop or PC - and I highly recommend getting a remote for it as well. It's a neat little device that you can do a lot with and you'll find it easy to update your tracks even daily if you take music that seriously. Even a friend who doesn't know the format will quickly be able to select tracks if you're sharing music, and the FM radio works really well.
Highly recommended as an alternative to the iPod - it's easier to use, will last longer and will actually impress your friends rather than bore them.

Excellent "anything but Ipod" player
I bought Creative Zen Vision M because its superior sound and video quality in front to an Ipod. I first bought a 60 Gig version that is very bulky and some accesories that say that they fit the 60 gig unit didn't fit because its volume. I had an accident and "watered" my player, so I looked for spares and knowledge to repair it. The 30 gig version has the same main board with different hard drive that makes the main difference to the volume of the unit. There are minor differents between hard drive connectors, and its been reported many hard drives updates and also Compact flash conversion.
It has video output is fantastic, you can cheaply connect it to your TV by not much special RCA wire, it works despite having a cracked display!
It has integrated FM tunner. In some firmwares it was able to record from radio.
It has integrated mic to record.
It can handle an adress book from your outlook and dates, but you only can manage it well from computer.
You can buy a wired remote control from Creative.
It has the ability to display your pictures while listening to music (I'll make a digital-musical picture frame with the guts of one of these.
The video conversion is done with the programs included for windows XP (Vista sometimes dislikes it).
Cons: Propietary file system, they have achieved to change the display font but nothing more far. If your player broke, you'll probably loose your media if you don't have another working one to put the drive in.
Although the wired remote control it is not easy to manipulate sometimes.
It has the lack of a good market support because its very rare to find specific speakers or devices to work with. It is not compatible with ipod designed ones although the connectors are very similar.
I think this is all I have to say!

piece of cr*p
Bought this & made the mistake of leaving feedback before fully testing it. it arrived & wouldn't switch on, so I placed it on charge & it sprang to life. I filled it up with my music & left it to charge. After a couple of hours it still wouldn't power up without being plugged in, so I left it for around 6-7 hrs. It got really hot & now would not switch on at all, even when plugged in.
I have tried the reset option to no avail. Contacted Creative & they were no help either, it would seem the replacement parts would cost more than I paid so I have to right this off to experience.
So if you are looking for an expensive piece of plastic to use as a paperweight or perhaps just have money you wish to donate to other dodgy sellers then I can't recommend it enough. If on the other hand you require an mp3 player then buy it new with a decent warranty.

An excellent good value product, a shame they dont make them anymore.
| Yes, I would recommend this product to a friend.
although this product was bought faulty, i already own one so i can give a review on a working one. An excellent music video and picture player, plus fm radio. Cant still find a better device out there that matches up to this one. Hence the reason why i want to repair the one i have after 3 hard years of abuse!

Creative Zen 30gb M Series
With the versatility of this product and the ease of use compared to the ipod I can honestly say this is a lot better than the ipod in both the software you use and the way media is transferred onto the player.
The only down side I can realy say this has is the fact that a lot of speakers and systems only have built in docking hardware for the ipod, however if the system has a jack then the M series can be played via a 3.5mm jack, overall an excellent product.
