Dyson DC01 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

We had owned our first Dyson DC01 model cleaner for over 15 years when it suuddenly became exceedingly noisy in operation. Over the 15 years we had had no real problems other than replacement belts and filters and had to buy a replacement flexible hose as ours had eventually split in places.We were entirely happy with its performance.

Looking on Ebay for a replacement we noted that many later Dyson models to the DC01 were on sale but adverts often stated that a replacement motor had been fitted. This did not inspire confidence as many seemed to have had a relatively short life compared to our DC01. We noted that spares were also higher in price and/or not so readily available. DC01 spares and reconditioned units were still readily available.

Working on the basis that I could strip my old unit for spares and still buy a reconditioned DC01 for about £45 (inclusive of 48hr delivery by courier) it was an easy decision to opt for one of these units.

I chose to buy from kdappliance services (seller ken9630_0 (e-mail kdappliances@aol.com) Theirs was not the cheapest DC01 on offer but I would always recommend buying used appliances etc from a Power Seller/ trader with excellent feed-back and who's adverts inspire confidence. The item arrived promptly and exactly as advertised and I also had very helpful correspondence from ken, the owner of kdappliance services.

We have had the replacement Dyson about 7 weeks now and it has performed as well, if not better, than our original did towards the end of its time. It has pretty heavy usage and copes with our dog's hair etc no problems.

I believe the DC01 was the first Dyson model of this type of cyclonic, bagless cleaner. Like many first models I believe it may have been built up to a standard rather than down to a price and I am not surprised that later models appear to have more problems or lesser life expectancy.

In conclusion I would highly recommend the DC01 and also ken at kdappliance services.

When my 86 year old mother's Dyson broke down I decided, rather than buying her a new vacuum cleaner ,which could very well be too heavy for her to push, I decided to look for a second hand replacement on eBay. I had previously purchased a second hand Dyson this way for myself and it had been quite satisfactory. This second purchase of a reconditioned machine (for a fraction the price of a new one) turned out to be in a class of it's own! The machine that arrived was spotlessly clean - I couldn't find a mark on it anywhere - and came with replacement filters and a spare belt. As for the suction, it proved to be far superior to my own machine - so much so that I 've kept it and let my mother have mine! If I had to come up with something I don't like about it I'd struggle - it is possibly ever so slightly noisier than my old DC01 but I've certainly heard worse and it's excellent cleaning power far out weighs this minor niggle. Altogether, an excellent purchase.

Although the Dyson DC01 Bagless Upright Cleaner is a bit noisy and the suction is excellent.It realy cleans the carpets and picks up the Dogs Hairs. The clear bagless dirt holder shows not only the amount you have collected but you can tell when it has to be empted.The extention pipe which is part of the machine will reach up a good flight of stairs aprox 13ft.You do have to change 2 filters which are easy to do.
We highly recommend the Dyson DC01.This is our second one we have had .Our first one we had for 8 to 10 years.

I have always wanted a dyson but could't afford brand new prices but this one does the job. Great suction as described and new tools and filters supplied, have only hoovered my living room mat so far to see if in working order and so far so good. Have heard that can cut out regularly when over heated but hope not as last hoover I had did this and was a royal pain as you couldn't get whole room done in one go (wasn't a dyson). I hope for the price that I will get a good length of life out of dyson 01 as it was an absolute steal, as they say nothing ventured nothing gained. Would recommend to anyone looking a good second hand dyson to try this ebay shop I have no complaints.

I bought this reconditioned Dyson as I couldnt afford a new one. Also you cant buy the DC01 any longer and in my opinion, they are the best model. The product was in excellent condition. Much better than I expected and looked new. It came with all the tools and the suction was like a new one. The vacuum cleaner has a lovely fresh lemony smell too. Many thanks for this super product.
